As a registered bidder with Bray Auctions, I was the winner of an auction by a company named *** ****. I won the auction and was charged a 10% buyers fee on a $2625 winning bid for a fraudulently advertised “title and runs” 2006 Mercedes Benz SL500. The day I went to pickup the 2006 SL500, *** **** informed me the car, in fact, did NOT run and would require only two batteries to “run”.
I paid for the car as to not get banned from bidding on future auctions, loaded the car on a trailer with a winch then took it home. I then called Bray Auctions and informed them of the issues with the seller and the car. I paid cash $2625 to *** ****, including a 10% buyer’s premium of $262.50 to Bray Auctions. This fee was charged to a credit card registered to my bidders account on Bray Auctions website, also known as **********
I purchased two expensive batteries for the SL500 only to find out this car does NOT run nor has it run since at least 2019. The title given to me by *** **** shows they are not even the lawfully registered owner of the 2006 Mercedes Benz SL500.
I contacted Bray Auctions about the issues with the car and the title and was told they’d try to work something out with the seller. The issue is this, the car was fraudulently misrepresented as a “running” vehicle and an assumed legal ownership title. But it was neither.
The car has also been underwater as shown by the sand in and around every body seam which means this is possibly a flood car that’s been sold multiple times by multiple dealers and hidden from potential buyers such as me.
I’ve written emails and made multiple phone calls to Bray Auctions since the early part of September 2024 with absolutely no indication of a solution.
Bray Auctions needs to be held liable and NOW they list vehicles at auction with a disclaimer of “as-is no warranty”. The problem there is if a vehicle is listed as “running” then it better run. Not end up as a junk heap and fraudulently misrepresented by a seller.
