My main issue is that I I had an unlicensed technician work on my feet on 4/21/24. The girl was very nice, but stated she just came in to observe and was surprised they assigned her to me since she didn't have her license yet and was just there to observe (are unlicensed technicians supposed to be working on my feet??). I was trying really hard to be gracious about it. It was only me and my daughter and one other individual in the store, but it took us forever to get done. They never asked me what kind of pedicure I wanted. My "technician" was kind, but never used any oils, did any massage, etc. I usually only pay $50 for a pedicure that comes with a hot stone massage or something special, so I was shocked to find out when I got to the register that I was charged $50 for polish and cold water. My daughter went in to get a french tip--she only wanted a basic French tip. When I got to the checkout I was a little stunned because the owner told me her other technician did fancy nails on my daughter so they would have to be expensive (we DID NOT ask for any of the extra stuff--in fact, we didn't want the extra stuff.) She charged us $70 because she did the "expensive" nails that we didn't ask for. Again, no fault to the girl who was shadowing/observing who got assigned to my pedicure. If you are going to have someone work on you who doesn't know where the toe separators are or the location of any of the polish because they walked in the door that afternoon to shadow, you probably shouldn't charge for the "premium pedicure", especially when I never got ask what pedicure I actually wanted. You probably shouldn't tell people you gave them "fancy expensive" nails when they don't ask for them, and then tell them at checkout. I'm completely flabbergasted that I had to pay higher than I normally pay at a normal salon for something we didn't ask for and a service that wasn't provided. I left a $15 tip because I figured the observer wasn't going to get paid otherwise.

    RE: Complaint #********

In response to the complaint filed with the BBB from a previous client, I would like to address the issues as follows:

The client initially claims that her main concern was that the nail technician was unlicensed and only there to observe.  The nail technician assigned to the clients pedicure is a recent graduate from a school of cosmetology and as of yet, does not actually possess the formal license certificate required by *********************** to be posted in view of the public.  However, the technician does have a required permit to work and is carried by the technician as required by law.  If the client was duly concerned, the client is within her rights to ask for the permit or license to verify that the technician was practicing within the scope of the law.

The client states that she was never asked what type of pedicure she wanted and shouldnt have been charged for a premium pedicure by someone who didnt know where the toe separators or nail polish was.  The nail tech assigned to the clients pedicure was performing services on her first day at work and not just observing.  Of course, a new hire must follow or shadow to learn where supplies and products are stored.  This is part of any new employment requirements.  With respect to the premium pedicure, the basic or classic pedicure is a $30 charge.  Upgrades are charged accordingly based on request.  The client requested a gel polish add on, which is a $20 upgrade.  This was discussed and approved prior to service.  Additionally, the client complains that the technician did not know where the polish was stored.  A new hire would not know where to locate a specific gel nail color among hundreds of nail polish containers.  The client proves in her own words that a specific gel nail polish was requested because the technician had to have help locating it.  The client also complains that she got cold water with her pedicure.  Each client has specific tolerances to water temperatures, and as expected it is normal for the client and tech to work together to provide the desired water temperature for the pedicure.  The client knows this as she alludes to attending other salons.  This issue is as simple as asking the technician to increase or lessen the amount of warmer water for the pedicure.  The technician can only provide what the client is requesting or tolerating with water temperature for comfort.

Client states that the nail services provided to her daughter were not what was asked for and was too expensive.  The clients daughter was getting her nails done for her prom and specifically asked for a full set of dip set with French and add-on chrome.  This is a $70 charge and was discussed between the daughter, the client (mother), the nail tech providing services to the daughter and the nail shop manager, with pricing discussed before services and approval by the client.  This is backed up by security camera footage in the nail shop and available for review.

Our prices are commensurate with other nail salons in the ****** municipal area and in some cases cheaper.  We only provide services requested and discuss prices first before we get an ok from the client.  The manager (not the owner) actually stepped in on this particular clients request as they were new clients and pricing was acknowledged prior to service.  The client received all services asked for and if the service was lacking, a request or alternate services are certainly happily addressed at the time.

Regarding the last comment that a tip was provided because employee payment was suspect, I can only surmise what the basis of such an insulting comment was based on.

I have been in business for more than 20 years with little to no issues because we try to perform services that are desirable and for a fair price.  We will not consider a refund.

    Respectfully,
