My name is  Amy************, almost 2 years ago I leased an apartment for my son, Casey ************, and a roommate in my name (son was a co-renter). Apparently there was a clause in the agreement that we had to give a 30 day written notice to move out. I found this out when I physically went to the office to turn in my sons keys several days before the lease was up. The villas at Stonebridge informed me that they sent an email out informing us of the 30 day notice requirement but this email was not sent to me. While in their office I looked in my email and when it was not there I asked what email it was sent to they informed me there is no way to tell. I am the main person on this lease and they should have sent me the reminder email. They informed me that they posted a notice on the door but my son had actually already moved to ***** 2 months before so an email to me wouldve been appreciated and expected. My son called the complex July 8th and asked them if they had rented the apartment out yet or if he needed to pay the entire next months rent, he was told that the apartment was set to be rented out august 1st so he owed for the entire month. So he paid the entire $1152.71. Saturday July 23rd ***** went to the complex and lights were on in his old apartment and a man walked into his so obviously they had another lease signed and not told us. We were not notified of any new lease and have not received any refund on part of the rent. clauses like the 30 day written notice that these places put in the contract is preying on college students hoping they will forget and the complex can collect inflated rent from them for another month while they get it ready for a new renter. It might be legal but it is not ethical to not notify the main renter more than 30 days before move out. Also, We should have been notified immediately of any new renter leasing the apartment and we were not. Apartment number *** at villas at Stonebridge ****** **. *******************
