Johnson Controls acquired the local alarm company I used. When the rates rose, I got another local alarm company and cancelled the Johnson Control monitoring near the end of June 2022. Johnson Controls said they would credit my account for the paid yet unused days in June and refund me $9.80. 15 days later I receive an overdue notice in the mail for $36.75. I call Johnson Controls (terrible phone tree and hold times) only to get to someone who tells me the overdue notice was sent in error because Johnson Controls had yet to finalize my account and that I had a credit on my account (as I was told 30 days prior) for $9.80. 15 further days later (July 20), I received yet another overdue notice in the mail for $36.75 threatening to turn me over to a collections agency and report it to the credit bureaus. Once again, I call Johnson Controls. Once again I work my way through their terrible phone tree and wait times. I explain the situation to whomever answered the phone (they only give first names so you can't refer back to them). They say I owe $26.95 (a brands new amount by the way) and they will transfer me to billing. I go through the entire scenario with billing. They tell me I have a credit on my account of $46.55, which is a new amount that I know is incorrect. They transfer me to the cancellation department which is where I started the entire ordeal near the end of June. This time, they tell me I owe $26,95 and email me an invoice which does not agree with the amount on the overdue letter. This borders on neigh thievery and instead of issuing me a refund of $9.80 as told to me twice, Johnson Controls threatened my credit rating for not paying an heretofore uncommunicated new balance due of $26.95. Just to get them off my back and to save my credit rating, I paid the unjustified and obviously incorrect amount of $26.95 and I pray that will be the end of it as I do not like doing businesses I believe to be incompetent and unscrupulous.
