I had a malfunctioning MAP sensor. Just for them to plug in their code tool and tell me it was a bad sensor was billed at $149.95 before tax. The paper I got from Autozone where they did it for FREE and determined a bad MAP sensor was sitting in the front passenger seat. Then the sensor itself and the labor was billed at $391.84 before tax. My truck was not running so I had no choice but to authorize the work. However, I called my preferred shop in ******, and they said that that book only calls for HALF AN HOUR MAXIMUM. Where did the extra hour come from? Then after they got the sensor replaced and the truck running, the service writer ***** *. told me "It's running, but not great. We need to do a cooling system pressure test." So since I needed to get it running good enough to get it to ****** I authorized that as well, billed at $74.98 before tax. ***** *. said that they found exhaust gasses in my cooling system, so "It could either be a blown head gasket, a cracked head, or a cracked block." I said "Well those are three wildly different things. Which one is it?" They said "We don't know, the only thing we recommend at this point is a new engine billed at $11,500 before tax, oil change, and additional services." I said "Park it and don't touch it anymore. I will pick it up in the morning." I took it directly to my preferred shop in ******, where it did NOT run "not great" it ran perfectly, and where they did their own diagnosis. They found no evidence of a blown head gasket, a crack in the block, the head, or any water or coolant intrusion in the engine. The only thing they found was a leak in my radiator, where after the diagnosis of NOT finding any blown head gaskets or cracks, a new radiator, and labor, will still bring me to a total less than that of what I was charged at Christian Brothers Automotive for them to replace ONE sensor. While yes, I did authorize this work, it was under false pretenses. I feel scammed, and I want them to be brought to justice.

I spoke to ***** today and let him know that we dropped the ball. His experience is not the level of customer experience and expertise that we should have provided. I am sending him a partial refund by the mail.
