    We decided to utilize the YMCA over the summer while my daughter was taking swimming lessons and for those few months we were happy to pay the $78 a month membership fee. In August we were no longer using the membership though due to school resuming and busy work schedules so we sought to cancel our membership. There is no way to cancel the membership online (the forms do not exist that other YMCA's claim you should fill out for this location) and so we called the branch. They told us they would start the process of canceling the membership on August 27th and gave us an email address to email why we were canceling. We did this, but they continued to charge us in September and now again in October. We have called again and they say they will work on it again, but there is never anybody available at the branch who actually handles cancelations. We changed our billing information so our card isn't charged, but they are still sending the charges through and say we now owe two months worth even though we are not utilizing their service at all. We enjoyed our few summer months using the membership, but at this point I have no interest in becoming a YMCA member again in the future with how frustrating this has been.

    I can definitely understand the frustration. We were able to make right with this member. Our cancellation process is an email to our membership coordinator/director or an in person cancellation form. Unfortunately, we missed the email communication from this member and that delayed our timeliness in making this right. We have gotten this taken care of and I have posted our cancellation policy below for anyone who may need it in the future. 

    I understand that the primary member is the only authorized individual that can cancel or make changes to the membership account. The primary member must provide written notification of cancellations or account changes within 7 days of the member draft date  to be effective on the next scheduled draft. Please keep a copy of your cancellation/change form for your records. Members are responsible for reviewing their bank statements to verify their monthly draft has been cancelled/changed. Should the Y fail to cancel your draft following written notification, refunds MUST be requested in writing within 60 days of the membership termination date. Membership joining fees and program deposit fees are non-refundable.
