Our group set up a room block for our team as we do at numerous hotels all over the area. Every family called and made their own reservations. Our card info was taken. No specific info was given to me about the hotel/policies. I booked a suite since I have 3 children to accommodate for my family size. As we were all checking in, the front desk worker only chose certain people to ask how many occupants would be in the room. I told them I had a family of 5. In a very rude and snippy manner, the desk clerk told me I would have to pay extra because they only allow 4 people per room, even the suites with 3 beds. I asked why that was not communicated to me when I reserved the room months before, and the desk clerk became infuriated and started yelling at me that they did notify me. I told her I had never had a hotel charge me for my third child who is only 6. I also told her that every hotel Ive stayed at has communicated such important details and they should consider being more transparent with their customers. She and a male employee continued screaming at me, but I couldnt make out what they were saying. I asked her how much the extra fee was. She replied $15 a night. I told her that was fine, I would pay it but it was ridiculous to throw these extra fees on their customers this way. At this point the male desk clerk yelled at the female to cancel my room. He then yelled at me to go be happy somewhere else. As I stood in shock from being treated like a child, one of the male members of our group came over to try to calm the desk clerks down and told them, she has agreed to pay the fee, but is stating her frustration about your lack of communication. They immediately changed their tone and said, yes sir, we did tell the person who made the room block. This was a complete lie. The entire weekend they treated all the women and children horribly, but spoke respectfully to the men in our group. I was baffled by how sexist and discriminating they were.
