I appear to be lucky enough to not have continued my service with Heartland, the reviews on this company are not good. Our small business was contacted by a salesperson with Heartland who stated our information was provided by the ****. Thinking they were legitimate and upstanding company, we decided to try and move our credit card processing over to Heartland Payment. The transfer did not go well, paperwork was fouled up by Heartland, they required us to jump through hoops to get our system up and running when we already had a processing company. Then Heartland went silent, and two of the "sales" leads we were communicating with decided to Leave the company without giving us a new contact person. It appears this company is going through some difficult problems and it shows in their responses and customer service. Highly recommend searching out another payment solution, this company has failed on all points with us. No thanks.

We have been working with Heartland POS and Heartland Processing since early 2020. We have been extremely happy with their service up until this year. We usually average around 3% in credit card processing fees from Heartland. On 5/ 28, I received my April statement and realized it was higher than normal. I went back to check my statements online and saw that I was charged 6.7% in March, 6.3% in April, and now 6.67% in May. I messaged Heartland immediately and was told they would get back to me in 14 business days. Heartland reached out to me 6/9 and told me that I was notified on my February statement that the rate would be increasing. I've looked back through my paperwork and I'm missing my February statement - we never received it - so I was never notified our rate was increasing. M of our statements arrive at the end of the following month. When I calculated our total loss (after our credit card fees doubled) it was over a $9,000 loss.I asked Heartland to make this. Their solution was to lower our rate to .75% and $.05 per transaction. This was deceiving information as it only lowered the rate .39% from our previous rate of 1.14%. It will take us over 2 years to recoup that money. Also, to receive this lower rate, Heartland needed us to sign a contract with a termination penalty. When I asked if the rate was locked in, they said that they could increase the rate anytime, but we would be notified by mail before it increased. To stop the increase, Id need to call ********************** before the increase but with the slow mail and the fact that they take 14 business days to reply, theres no way we can call before the increase. We would then be contracted into a higher rate. They also charged us $499 for a software upgrade that we were never notified ******** is very sad that such a large and successful company is trying to take everything they can from small businesses. We've been a huge advocate for Heartland over the years.

I was over charged in fees way more which was discussed in the initial activation of credit card activity. The fees kept growing, after 2 years with this company i made decision to end the relationship. Stopped Heartland from taking anymore money from my account by report them to my bank. Then i get a letter informing me that it's in collections. I now must get my attorney invoked.

On April ****** and May ****** Heartland Payment debited each of my 3 checking accounts for Credit Card Processing fees which more than doubled my normal fees. Instead of my charges raging from $3,000 to $5,000 they went to $10,500 to $11,300.00. They also charged each account a $499.00 technology fee. When I reached out to them I never received a phone call instead they emailed me without leaving a number to call to discuss this increase. They offered to refund us $4,000.00 plus $499.00 per location if I would sign a new contact. I have yet to talk with anyone to get a refund for the $35,000 that they have over charged us so far.. If I do not sign a new contract I am out all this money. Our contract was still in effect when they charged us this increase, This is very dishonest almost Blackmail to get us to re-sign with them.

My company, **********************************, processed two transactions from a customer who later used fraudulent credit cards:Transaction 1: $6,666.72 Transaction 2: $13,333.41 Shortly after recognizing unusual activity, I immediately reported the transactions as fraudulent. Despite this, Heartland took no action to protect my business or to investigate the matter properly.Heartland processed chargebacks for the same two transactions, but did so in a manipulative and financially damaging way:They issued the chargebacks in nine smaller transactions, all on the same day, which triggered extra fees and severely impacted my cash flow. They then re-processed the chargebacks again for the same original amounts, leading to duplicate losses and compounding the financial damage.Following this, I filed a dispute with my bank. As a result, my bank successfully recovered a portion of the money from Heartland on my behalf.Heartland closed my merchant account without any prior notice, causing:A sudden loss of credit card processing ability Operational disruption and emergency account setup with a new processor A measurable decline in business sales and sustainability This unilateral closure with no due process or explanation constitutes both a breach of contract and a failure of business duty.Instead of resolving this properly, Heartland has engaged *************************, a debt collection agency, to collect the already recovered and disputed amount

This company excels at sneaking extra fees and other charges onto your monthly merchant statement. It is always wise to examine it closely and make sure they're not gouging you. If you have to call them, then good luck and you also had better summon some patience. It will take forever, and you will likely never resolve your issue.

Recently hit with a hidden technology upgrade fee $555.00/company for 8 companies no matter the size. Heartland with over 1 million customers should be on the next episode American Greed.

My husband and I have used Heartland with both of our businesses, one for several years, the other is only a year old. Since the beginning of the year, we have noticed the fees they were charging us were becoming extremely varying. One month 5%, the next 9%, our last charge was 44%. It is impossible to make a profit as a small business with them changing the percentages on a whim. They are basically robbing people with 28-44% rates. DO NOT USE COMPANY

I have used Heartland since May of 2019 and I had been very happy with them until they started to add more and more fees to their processing *********** August, 2024 they added a $254 "Infrastructure upgrade fee." This is on top of their $245 annual fee. Then in October they instituted a $.25 batch fee - not much but it adds ***** December they raised the Termination Fee from $295 to $****** March they are imposing a $499 "Technology Upgrade Fee."They also doubled the *** Non-Compliance Fee to $200/mo. All these fee increases in 7 months is a lot for a small business to endure. There are plenty of alternatives out there.I'm leaving at the end of the month.
