I had a pool installed in July 2024. Immediately after the concrete forms were removed there were apparent issues with the concrete. Forms collapsed leaving uneven contours and there was extremely bad porosity around the lip of the pool. I notified *** via phone call and he assured me that I had nothing to worry about and the would take care of it. Communication pretty well ceased from *** after that. They eventually sent **** out to look and he brought me a check for $6,690. **** told me he agreed there were issues and said they would send a new concrete guy out to quote replacing the concrete. The new guy came out (****) and gave me a quote for $10,200. This leaves me $3,510 short to get the concrete repaired. I was informed by **** today that ***'s position is since he refunded me $6,690, it's no longer his problem. This is despite the fact I have a three year workmanship warranty.

    Business Response

It is unfortunate that Mr. ****** is not happy with his concrete job.  We subcontract out our concrete work.  There were some minor issues with a few cracks (all concrete cracks) and we offered to repair those.  Mr. ****** felt like we should rip up all of the concrete to repair a few spots and I felt like there was no need to tear it all up and relayed this to Mr. ******.  He wanted all of it ripped up and there was no need for that and we expressed that.  We did offer to repair it and he refused.  We fired the concrete guys that did the work and brought in another company that gave me a bid to repair the cracked concrete and a part that settled.  We do these repairs several times each year because it’s concrete and sometimes it may not set up correctly.  Mr. ****** decided that wasn’t good enough and still said we need to tear it all our a replace it.  I finally told him I would eat the $6,690 which was a full refund of his concrete job and he still wanted more.  We have been more than fair and even refunded his money so he could find a different concrete company.  All of our pools have a 3 year workmanship warranty that covers the pool build only and concrete does not fall under this category because it is concrete and ground shifts and cracks appear over time.

Thank you and we never like having upset customers but this is us trying to work this out and being totally fair.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: Simply patching the concrete would look bad a potentially separate and flake off eventually due to expansion and contraction.  The pool company's own employee as well as the new concrete company they hired both agreed that the only way to fix the issue correctly was to start over.  Starting over would mean they would need to bust out the existing concrete and pour it again.  The new concrete company gave me a quote for $10,200 dollars.  Subtracting the $6,690 the pool company sent me, that leaves a difference of $3,510 I still need to get the job done correctly as it should have been to begin with.

    Sincerely,

    **** ******
