Gas leak detected next to furnace. The person named **** who me I spoke with is in complete denial.Says it was sabotaged system even though I closed on the house Aug 30th.My gas had to be turned off by ******************** and Morris heat and air in Okmulgee wants to charge me *350 for pressure tests and permits among other things as well as 110$ per hour of service. I am only trying to have warm water but they refuse to have the decency to assist me on an item I have not tampered with. For a business that can charge new home buyers for services that should have been resolved before the purchase of home is ridiculous especially in good faith so Im about to come out of pocket for a job that should have been done the right way the first time!Business Response

OK, here we go again. This *** just moved into the house and is having ******* Heat And air come out and quote him for new equipment. He was wanting the homeowner to buy him a new system through ******* Heat And air, which was an extortionate price and he chose to buy the house after the inspection report yielded a few things that the previous home owner hired us to fix and we did. After we completed work at the house, the previous homeowner was in the house every day for over a week and never smelled gas. We were in the closet where he is saying gas is coming from the entire time. We were there and even checked the fittings they claim are leaking and they were not leaking and we did not ever smell gas, even if they were leaking, we were never hired to address or fix gas leaks on the home inspection report. Meaning, I have nothing to do with it I explained to him that if his gas is shut off that we would have to get an inspection from the city first thats $350 to set it up for pressure testing get an inspection and hook it all back up after its done and anything past that would be $110 an hour plus materials and I have not heard back from him they have complained with the people they bought the house from theyve called me. *** told them the same thing and nobody has hired me to go out and fix it. So this *** wants us to come out and fix it for free I guess. I didnt sell him the house. I havent done anything with the gas line and have nothing to do with it. The gas line was not leaking when we were working there.Business Response

October 14 2022 John- owner of Morris Heat and Air came to our house to repair our floor furance.
His helper went to basement and started repair The burner was pulled and cleaned , adjusted pilot assembly and added a new breakawy ferrell They checked the thermostat and furance seemed to be working.
To which he charged me $89.00 service call plus repair charge of $285.00 and credit card fee for a total of $387.09 Suggested more than once he had a new one he would sell us.
Oct 25- 2022 we called again as furance wasnt working John Morris said our pilot light was out Charged a $50.00 service call.
On Nov 01 again pilot light out- my husband went downstairs to relight and to his dismay the furance burner pan and other parts were laying on the floor of the furance. It was never put back together- pilot light couldnt stay lit from constant swinging in the furance open pan.
Contacted Morris Heat and he stated they didnt leave furance that way and again pushed for us to buy a new furance- wasnt his concern We basically were out of luck
Also John M said he wasnt doing anything more about the mess that was left He denied they left it like we found it.
We made the decision to find someone else to come and put it back like it needed to be to have a safe working furance.Business Response

On 10-13-2022 we were at 426 S 59th W Ave. We cleaned the burners as the flames were rolling out of their floor furnace and posing a fire hazard. We had a fully rebuilt John Zinc that had been fully cleaned, rebuilt and tested to our standard. It was offered to this homeowner, but they declined to a lack of finances. We cleaned the burners, strapped the gas valve to the cabinet of the floor furnace as it had been modified from the original IT Valve to a Universal Robert Shaw and leak checked the flex line, which shouldn't be used on a floor furnace, but was accessible via the basement and leak free, and the surrounding fittings and gas pipe. We found a leak in the ferrel for the pilot tube and replaced it. We fastened everything together and turned the floor furnace on and off 20 times to ensure it was responsive with no delay and had no issues. We confirmed millivoltage in excess of 350 mV which is suitable and normal for proper operation of a floor furnace. Homewoner paid and was pleased with the repair.
10-25-2022 The homeowner called and informed us the floor furnace we had just worked on was not working. We arrived at the home and found the pilot was out. We turned the unit on and off and confirmed the millivoltage to be in excess of 350 mV which is normal for proper operation of a floor furnace. It was determined that someone either turned off the pilot or there is an intermittent failure of a part that doesn't occur while we are there. We offered a fully rebuilt John Zinc that had been cleaned and tested and offered to credit what the homeowner had paid thus far to swap it out and they declined.
11-2-2022 Homeowner texts images of their floor furnace under the home and claims that we damaged their property and maliciously left the floor furnace in a condition to fail. They claimed that we left something laying on the ground, but didnt identify what that was or send an image of it. Nothing was left on the ground and the furnace was confirmed fully functional upon leaving their home.
I, once again, tried to resolve the issue by offering to credit what they had paid thus far towards a fully rebuilt and tested John Zinc floor furnace for $1400 or a new Cozy floor furnace for $3500, but they continued to offer remarks of blame that we damaged their property and used their bathroom and accepted gatorade when offered. I had to kindly ask them the purpose of all of this so that I can better understand what I need to do to resolve the matter, and no purpose was given. Ultimately, ****** ******* stated via text that there was no purpose to her remarks and at that I had to regress. I asked her once again if her pilot was out and to explain what problem she was experiencing and I never heard anything from her.
11-14-2022 The John Zinc rebuilt floor furnace offered to ****** ******* was installed for another customer in Oklahoma with no problems. We no longer have that option available for her. Upon arrival to my office at 11:50PM CST, I received a complaint from ****** ******* through the BBB. We work on dozens of floor furnaces a month during the winter and have since 2010. We work on millivoltage systems that are identical to floor furnaces on restaurant equipment and gas logs. We are very experienced with these systems and have nevver had any problems outside of Cozy Gas Valves in the last 2 years after Cozy was aquired by Williams. We are currently preparing a discovery to address manufacturing issues with these parts and do not recommend Cozy Floor Furnaces in homes at the moment till we regain confidence in their product. We treated ****** ******* and her family home like we would our own and did the best we could do to work with her financial situation and pre-existing system, which is allegedly falling apart and continually failing. If the BBB would like to follow up with the homeowner that aquired the fully tested, cleaned and rebuilt John Zinc Floor furnace installed for another homeowner in Oklahoma on 11-14-2022, I would be happy to arrange that along with several other customers throughout the years. There are no ill intentions with our organization.

We are not at fault in this claim. Everything was installed to the best of our ability and safely. This family did not pay us to do anything outside of clean the burners and replace a leaking feral under their house. We believe that it would be advantageous for this homeowner to consider replacing their John zinc floor furnace which is why we recommended doing that. However they chose to have their furnace repaired for as little money as possible. At the end of the day I did not see any reason why the repairs would not last for this homeowner and I still don't know why the pilot is going out and why everything is falling apart under the house it seems unlikely to me that this naturally happened.
