On 9/16/24, I took an emergency loan of $500 from Patria Lending. My weekly payments were $61.07. On 10/11/24, I was charged twice, though one of the charges was later refunded. Between 9/20/24 and 11/29/24, I made 10 weekly payments of $61.07, & an additional payment of $36.44.
On December 5, 2024, I logged into my account to check the final payoff amount and it showed a payoff of $327.67. I withdrew from my 401k & paid this amount, after which the website displayed a zero balance.
For the next 5 months, I received no communication from Patria Lending—until 9/9/25, when they unexpectedly charged my account $61.07. There was no prior warning or explanation. I called immediately & was told to email Customer Care. I sent at least 5 emails, some with screenshots attached. I received no response.
Then, on 9/16/25, another $61.07 was withdrawn from my account. Once again, I called & was told they would only communicate via email.
Finally, late on 9/16/25, I received an email stating I still owed $135.22 after my $327.67 payment in December. This makes no sense. They are now claiming that, after the two recent payments totaling $122.14, I still owe $13.08. They also stated they would "waive the interest charges accrued since December." What interest charges?
Before taking further action, I tried to log into my account to pay the $13.08 just to close this matter and prevent any additional unauthorized charges. However, I can no longer log in—the system won’t accept my password. The password reset link claims to send an email, but I never receive it. I’ve contacted Customer Care multiple times about this and have received no response. This leads me to believe they intentionally block access to my account to avoid scrutiny of their fraudulent activity.
Please contact me ASAP at ************. If I am unavailable, leave a voicemail and I will return the call. I am also contacting other consumer protection agencies regarding this issue, but I hope to resolve it with your help.Correction:
Unfortunately, after reading my complaint I realized that I made a typo. I wrote that I was charged $61.07 on 9/9/25 and 9/16/25, but obviously I wrote the wrong date as those dates have not occurred yet. The proper dates should have been 5/9/25 and 9/9/25. I had originally written the date as May instead of using the number to represent it, but I had to shorten it due to the character limits on the BBB website

Complainant’s concern and frustration; and appreciate the opportunity to offer
further clarification.
As the Complainant explained, after making an on-line payoff in the amount of
$320.67 on 12/04/2024, the Patria Lending Account was paid-in-full.
However, after researching the Account Records, we are unable to identify,
replicate, or explain why the Complainant saw $320.67 displayed as the
payoff amount when the actual payoff was $455.89Initial Complaint

Well. Iv received an email from Patrial Lending about being approved for 1000 loan and I was okay. I need the money. So attempt it and read the agreement and it was $81.91 weekly. Okay well I went for it. I never got the $1000 they offered. So by this point I’m feeling sketched out bc they have my bank info and my ssn and all this. There’s another partial lending website but looks nothing like the I suppose got a loan with. So yeah I want out of this loan bc I haven’t even gotten the money. So yeah I’m feeling sick to my stomach because I’m a hard working young man who just needed a little extra cash and I’m not finna be scammed over a $1000. Please help BBBBusiness Response

I foolishly took out a loan and had payments taken out weekly to get it paid off faster, was never late or missed any payments and final payments were taken out and loan successfully paid in full. I took screen shots of the payments and the patria website that showed the little congratulatory message stating it was paid in full. Approximately 2.5 weeks later they attempted to take another payment and when I reached out to them via email I sent the photos of the final payments and the page saying it was paid off but never heard back from them and now receiving emails saying the loan is 50 days past due. This is super shady and I get that they are not technically doing anything illegal by offering these high interest loans that pray upon people in need but it really should be. A $1000 loan turns into an almost $5000 loan which is beyond disgusting to do that others. I don’t know how they sleep at night especially taking what was agreed upon and then still trying to take more and avoiding the customer knowing they are being shady and deceitful. I will be seeking legal counsel to handle this matter f it is not resolved before the end if March 2025Business Response

I initially took out a short-term loan with Patria Lending in November 2023. I have taken out a total of three loans with this company. I have received a total of $4,600 from this company and have already paid a total of $5,804.18 back. My partner unexpectedly lost his job and I cannot keep affording to pay this ridiculous rate. When I checked my account today, my pay off amount was $1,457.38. On the past two loans that I paid off, I was charged an additional amount after both payoff dates. This is absurd! I have already paid $1,204.18 in interest to this company. There is no way to escape this, which is just what companies like this want. The APR is well above the maximum allowed in the state of ******** and they are not a licensed lender. I have paid off these loans plus interest and I am requesting that my account be considered paid and closed so that I can focus on surviving my partner's unemployment. Please beware of this predatory lender!!!Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: I have already paid more than the total of all three loans combined. I was able to pay the absurd interest for the first two loans and am unable to continue making payments due to my partner's unemployment. As a one-time courtesy, I would like my remaining balance to be waived and the interest I've already paid put towards the third loan as paid off and settled.Business Response

I had $500 show up in my checking account from ********************. I did NOT apply for or sign any kind of loan. I contacted my bank and started looking into Patria Lending. A few days later I realized there where several withdrawals from patria that was clearly a payment, with interest. This is obvious fraud. I have reached out to them to try and resolve this issue, and I'm in the process of working with my bank to resolve this
I also went to my local police and filed a fraud report with them as well.Business Response

Due to the detailed response, please refer to the attached PDF document. Thank you, Patria LendingUpon further research, the Patria Lending account in question originated through
a lead provider, ***************** on June 29, 2024, with the completion of an
on-line application that was presented to their network of multiple lenders, one of
which was Patria Lending. Patria Lending accepted, approved, and funded the
requested loan amount of $500 to the Checking Account provided on the on-line
application on Thursday, June 29, 2024.
Once the loan request has been approved, borrowers are asked to sign the Loan
Agreement that includes the Truth-In-Lending Act (TILA) Disclosure. The (TILA)
Disclosure is the first page of Patria Lending’s Loan Agreement and outlines the
required repayment categories that must be presented to a potential borrower
before a Lender extends credit. The purpose of the TILA is to protect potential
borrowers so they are not surprised by financial charges, payments, and fees.
Categories displayed are as follows: Annual Percentage Rate; Finance Charge;
Amount Financed; Total Of Payments; Number Of Payments; Amount Of Payments;
When Are Payments Due; and Repayment Fees.Initial Complaint

Yesterday I signed up for a loan, the process didn't load all the way through. On one page it supposedly asked a question but there was none visible and I couldn't select an answer. It would allow me to save for later so I did and I was redirected to the loan status screen saying how much I borrowed and my payment schedule. I have not received any confirmation email with my loan details and I cannot speak to anyone because all the numbers are false. It wont let me disconnect my bank without speaking to someone which as I mentioned is impossible. I don't want to get scammed out of my money, but I do not know what to do.Business Response
