Was assigned this company by home warranty company. Slow response and promises of repair but no actual work performed.

      Business Response

      Date: 12/01/2022

      Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/09/01) */
We worked with the customer on getting her claim processed properly. When we were first assigned her claim there were no obvious problems at the time of diagnosis (the system was operational) so we kept the claim open for her in case the system was having intermittent issues that we could not diagnose on the original call; per our contract with the home warranty company we must witness the failure/problem. The system eventually failed.

We then went through the claims process as outlined by the home warranty company and she was approved for a new HVAC system. The home warranty company ordered the equipment and we received an email on Thursday 8/18/2022 at 11:00 PM (copy of email available upon request) that the equipment was ready for pick up from the supplier; we advised the customer of this on Friday 8/19/2022 and scheduled with her to replace the system the following Tuesday 8/23/2022. Per our contract with the home warranty company we are to pick up the equipment within 7 days of receiving notification that the equipment is available for pick up and perform the associated work within 7 days after that date (documentation available upon request).

We advised the customer that her supply and return air plenums were dilapidated and needed to be replaced as well as the drain-pan; something the home warranty company would likely not cover, so we provided an estimate for this work and advised the home warranty company that we did so (copy of this correspondence available upon request as well). Her plenums are missing insulation in places and have a multitude of air leaks. If we were to install new equipment on dilapidated plenums it would pump air into the attic, form condensation and likely leak into the ducts then onto the ceiling below.

We advised her that the estimate from Jayco must be accepted or denied and a deposit made before work could begin. The home warranty company requires that she pay a specific portion of her claim which we are to collect before work begins (documentation available upon request). The customer was very upset that the home warranty company did not pay for the entire claim and that we would not perform the work at our cost.

The customer denied our services, did not accept our estimate, or make a deposit.

      Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/09/03) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I asked to be assigned a new contractor by the home warranty company. Instead of a completely new system, it turns out that I needed a motor. I was without air conditioning for a month. This company not only tried to rip off the home warranty company, but he thought he'd tack on an extra $1500 for himself. Total charges would have been $2780 instead of the contacted $1280. And not only was the existing pan and ductwork just fine, the whole system was fine aside from a motor. This should have cost me $75 to repair.
