Worked with Progressive Prosthetics and Orthotics to build a prosthetic leg. I had a walking blade made by a different company in *****. Progressive Prosthetics told me the blade wasn't appropriate for the terrain in ********. Having recently moved to ********, I followed his professional opinion. The pylon leg was like a medieval torture device. The leg never fit properly. The first fitting was so bad I could fit my finger into the socket - supposed to be tight and fit. Months of working with them to fix led to open, bleeding sores on my *****. I finally had enough. Owner offered to make blade leg as originally requested but said he would do an in-house exchange and would not tell Humana. That sounded like ******** Fraud. We didn't feel like that was right. Asked if legs were exactly same price. Nope! We said he needed to reverse the Humana claim on pylon leg and give us a quote to consider on new blade leg. He said he needed the serial number off original blade. Then, took both legs and disappeared for close to an hour. Without legs, I was basically held captive against my will. I couldn't leave. I sent someone searching for him. When he finally appeared, he said he would have to refund $3,300 to Humana. An in-house even exchange would have been ******** Fraud. At that point, he agreed to accept leg as return and process reversal of insurance claim. That was 10/27/23. To date (7/2/24), Progressive Prosthetics still has not reversed the insurance claim. Additionally, they quoted $18,000 but filed claim with Humana for $24,000. Humana approved $11,000, but Progressive Prosthetics collected 20% copay on the $18,000. As it stands, Progressive Prosthetics kept prosthetic leg, all monies from Humana, and 20% copay on $18,000 which means they kept $1,000 above and beyond the actual approved charge for 9 months now. I suggest avoiding this company. Shady at best. We are pursuing criminal charges. Humana and ******** are investigating for fraud.
