Diagnostic Imaging Associates coded the claim wrong when they submitted it to my insurance, Cigna. Diagnostic Imaging Associates didn’t provide any service that I am aware of. Diagnostic Imaging Associates didn’t send me an invoice until 10 months after the service date, 1/25/2022. Then they sent the account to collection before I could pay it or ask any questions about the bill. I paid the bill in full on 2/2/2023 and I am still getting calls from the collection company.

Thank  you for the opportunity to address this complaint. I will reach out to the patient to explain as well. They also left a one star Google review so we will ask them to give us a call to discuss.

This is the information from our 3rd party billing company-  I am continuing to review this case.

I can confirm that the patient has paid the balance on the account.  The patient’s insurance processed the claim by placing the allowed amount towards the deductible.  There are no notes on the account where the patient has contacted customer service.  The claim does not appear to be coded wrong;  Cigna network discount was applied.  There is no phone number on the account, so texts were not sent.  A statement was sent 10/7/22.  Please let me know if you need any additional info.  I will let you know when I hear back from the collection agency.

Additional information from the billing company,

I was able to speak with someone this morning.  There were two charges that were turned over on 11/28/22.  The agency shows one loaded on 12/16/22 and the other on 2/28/23.  They had a software change which could explain the other charges delay on their side.  They show the charge that loaded on 12/16/22 to be closed.  The patient made pmt to CI on 2/2/23.  Since this was before their load date of 2/28/23 for the other charge, the reported payment was not applied and therefore, a statement was sent on 3/1/23.  The patients spouse contacted them on 3/30/23.  The balance is still outstanding.

I have requested them to immediately cancel/close the account balance as well as send the patient a letter.  I also verified that neither balance was reported to the patients credit file.  Please let me know if you have any questions of if you need anything else.

I have not spoken to the patient yet but would be happy to discuss to ensure their issue was addressed appropriately.
