    Business Response

    Date: 06/20/2025

We have been attempting to reach out to the customer to fix the issues at hand. We had to let go of the salesman that was assigned to her job because we became aware of him doing poor quality work and lying to customers to get payment out of them all while telling the office staff that the customers were being difficult to work with and we needed to potentially lien their property to collect. We have spoken with many of this salesman's customers who were left with promises not fulfilled or poor work quality not corrected and we have been doing everything we can to repair our relationship with our customers and provide them with the excellent quality work they should have received in the first place. This customer in question never had any type of pre-lien notice or any type of lien paperwork filed, they would have just received a text from the office saying it was possible if we couldn't collect payment before 120 days. The number to our office was on the text so we wish she had reached out to our office staff at that point and let us know her repair was unsatisfactory so we could question her salesman about it, but beyond the salesman Lewis Roofing was never aware of any issue with her job until her complaint posted here. We would highly appreciate a call from the customer and the opportunity to make things right with her. We value our customers and stand behind our work, so if she gives us a call we would like to discuss getting the repair done in a satisfactory manner or discuss reimbursement.

The customer was busy with work and life, but she gave us a call back Thursday 06/26/2025 at approximately 10am and is giving us the opportunity to send a new representative out to take a look at her issue and do the repair in a satisfactory manor that reflects the quality of work we uphold and the compensation she has already provided for the work. We have someone going to look at it this afternoon 06/26/2025 and correct any errors the previous salesman may have not address and hid from our office staff while he was employed with us.

May 25 2024. F3 tornado caused wide spread damage. May 26 2024. Lewis Roofing *** solicit me asking if I wanted a FREE roof inspection. Upon inspection, asked if i want them to provide a FREE tarp. I agreed for them to install tarps on my damaged roofs. August 20 2024. Received email forwarding an invoice dated August 14 for $300. August 24 2024. Realized that this company is scamming/intimidating people. I received a text, pasted below: Hey it's Lewis Roofing!90 days have passed since we completed work on your property, and you still have an open balance with us.Please get in contact with your salesman, ****** ****** at ************** or ****************************************************** to discuss payment.Unfortunately, if we are unable to collect withing the next 10 days, we will be filing a lien on the property. Please feel free to call our office with any questions or concerns you may have!**************

We did put a tarp on this customers house after a tornado like she described in her complaint. However, as shown on the attached contract signed by the customer tarp was installed per insurance proceeds not for "free" as the customer stated. The customer's tarp would have been paid for by insurance upon completion of roof repair or installment, but the customer decided she did not want to have any work done by us so a bill was issued for the materials and services provided to tarp her roof.

As stated on the contract signed by the customer, we allow owners to send in a written cancelation of service at no penalty within 3 days. After that the owner must pay a $1,500.00 cancelation fee. In the interest of sparing this customer the cost of a cancelation fee after having their home hit by a tornado, we decided to waive the fee and just charge her for the materials and services provided to tarp her roof.

When we contacted the customer for payment she said she thought it was "free," and we again explained to her that the tarp was put on per insurance proceeds like stated on her signed contract. She then told us to take the tarp down and take it back to try to avoid paying the $300, but we informed her that we would have to charge her for removal if that were the case since we would have to pay for someone's trip and labor to remove it. She was unhappy to hear that as well, but we also advised her that if she doesn't want to get her roof fixed and we take the tarp down then her roof will begin to leak again and we don't want her to get more damage to her property if we take it off and she doesn't elect to get it fixed.

Since she took so long to notify us of cancelation, we informed her of our intent to lien if we were unable to collect payment. We also waived the 1.5%/month late fee (also stated on the contract signed by the customer) in the interest of not charging the customer any more than is necessary for services provided, even though we were not at fault for her response time.

So as described, we have bypassed multiple company policies that the customer signed and agreed to in the interest of helping them out after the stress of having to experience a severe weather event, and are simply trying to collect for just the materials and labor provided.
