We supplied tax documents to **** Borden February 2023 for 2022 tax year filing and paid a $500 retainer for his services, with assurance of completion before the due date. Near the end of March, Borden's office called stating filing would be delayed and we would incur a small late fee of about $20, but he would file the extension for us. Our taxes were submitted May 28, 2023, and we payed a remaining $250 for services in addition to our taxes owed. We received a notice of additional fees due from the **** We called July 5 and brought the notice in, which Borden acted surprised by, and said he did not know why that would be. He requested the notice and promised he would handle promptly and let us know what he found out. Borden never responded. We called seven more times from 7/17 to 8/30 with no response. I went to the office and demanded my *** notice back and took it to another professional, who stated that it looked as if an extension was never filed. I called the *** and confirmed that there was never an extension filed. I returned to Borden's office, and asked him if he had an extension on file, and he said he did not, then asked for the notice back so he could speak to them. I no longer had confidence in his capacity to assist, said I would deal with his errors, then called and paid the *** including accrued interest on late fees from his negligence. No offer to make restitution for failure to complete services with due diligence was ever offered
