I took my cat to Linn Veterinary Hosp. b/c he lost 6 of 16lbs, was vomiting, and had loose stools, he still has the symptoms of a Thyroid problem, which I told them to check him for. They s aid he had an oral infection and charged me extra for the medicine, which after 3 doses made him sick again. He still has the symptoms and I cannot afford to take him to another Vet. So hope you can help me and my cat. Thank you for your help.

On 8/5/2023 we saw "Happy" for an examination because he had been losing weight and was also having some issues with his left ear. According to our records (which is all we have at this point since the appointment was over 6 months ago), Happy has been losing weight and according to the owner this had been over a few days. The owner reported that Happy has a good appetite and is drinking well. Happy had occasional vomiting and diarrhea but no coughing or sneezing. It was noted that the owner was concerned about Happy's gums/teeth. Upon examination ***************************** found that Happy had some waxy ears and stage 2 dental disease. While Happy was at our clinic we drew ***** for some *****work (a senior panel that checks many different values), did an ear cytology, and cleaned the ears.

***************************** called the owner on 8/7/2023 to go over the *****work which showed no significant findings including Happy's T4 (thyroid) levels that were normal. While on the phone the owner expressed concern with the teeth and requested antibiotics, which were prescribed at an additional cost as all medications are typically charged for. ***************************** prescribed the medication but also notified the owner that a dental procedure would be recommended for long term.

At this time we have done all that was requested by the owner at the time of the appointment on 8/5/2023 and all concerns that were raised were addressed at that appointment. We have not received any messages or complaints directly from the owner so we were not aware of any issues.

I    told them  he was  losing  weight,  I  did  the  research   and his  symptoms are  Thyroid.  I   also  checked  with  a Dr.  who   agrees  with me  on the  symptoms  my  cat  has.  He is  still  vomiting, and has  very  loose  stools, which  are  the  symptoms.  ***********; ****** to  take him  back  and be charged  another  $405.00.

My   cat is  still  vomiting  , also  still has  loose  stools. Thyroid   symptoms  are  eating , drinking  and also  restlessness.  Which  my  cat  has.  What that  Vet  said  some is not  totally  right.  He did not  call me  for  further  exams, and I  am not  going to pay  more , like  another  $200,00  for  nothing.  I had to  go back  3 days  later  to pick  up  the  med.  and pay  $12.00  more,  which  he  should  has  Rx.  the med  and given it  while  I  was there  at  the  Hosp. I  have  talked to  other  people  and they  say the  same  thing, also  the  Vet  should  offer  a  payment  plan, also  I was told  he will  take  your  pet  for non  payment.  That is  wrong.  I  want  some  restitution.  I  cannot  afford  to  take  him  to  another  Vet. The   reason as  I stated  to  that  Vet  was  my  concern  of the  weight  lose  and  loose stools, also  vomiting..

    Thank  you

It  has  not  been  resolved,  please  do not  close  my  case.  There  have  been  other  complaints  about  Linn  Veterinary  Hosp. They  will keep  your  pet  upon none  pymt, instead  of  offering  on time pymts. I  thot  I  responded  in time.  That Vet is  a liar,  I took  my  cat there  b/c  of my  concerns  of his  losing  weight, loose  stools, vomiting, all that  Vet  did  was  clean his  ear  out, Rx a med., that  made him  sicker.

    Thank  You.

At the time of the appointment we recommended performing bloodwork to try and determine any underlying issues. The main issue noted at the time of examination was severe dental disease which is very likely to be the root cause of the issues because the bloodwork showed no significant abnormalities that would suggest otherwise, so antibiotics were prescribed to attempt to treat the disease with a possible infection, but a dental procedure was recommended for long term care. We were never notified by the owner that Happy was getting more sick after receiving the antibiotics. At the time of the appointment all concerns that were communicated to us were addressed and taken care of accordingly and we were never notified of any further issues.
