I am a full time wheelchair user and drive a van with a ramp that deploys. I recently stayed at the ********** in *******. My review concerns the lack of accessible parking and the response of the hotel's owner and front desk staff. This hotel has 4 collections of rooms, each with its own parking lot. Three out of 4 of these parking lots have no designated *** parking spots, including the main parking lot where access to the front desk and continental breakfast is located. The 4th parking lot has a marked accessible parking space with regular parking spaces on either side of it, meaning there is no space to deploy a ramp.I was told there was an unofficial and unmarked accessible parking space in the parking lot where my room was located. However, this space did not have adequate room to deploy my ramp, so I was told to park my van parallel to the walkway in a space that was not a parking space at all. In addition to deploying my ramp into the middle of the parking lot, I was in the way of the other cars that needed to back out. In the morning, I was not able to access the free continental breakfast unless I parked my car behind an EV charging station, again into the middle of a parking lot.Although the lack of accessible parking was frustrating, it is how the situation was handled by the front desk staff and owner of the hotel that was most upsetting. I was made to feel like I was being unreasonable and difficult because I was asking for something that is required by law. I was told that if I required "special" parking, I should have communicated that to the hotel prior to arrival. I was told that no one else had ever complained about the parking before me. There was no indication from the owner that he was sorry or that he had any intention of fixing the problem in the future. Upon request, I was given a 20% discount on my room.Accessible parking is required by law. Business owners have an obligation to comply, whether they like it or not.
