Absolutely the worst General Contractor in the world! Johnnie Gogenola Agreed to BUILD our home - from start to finish , gave us bids from HIS subcontractors , took our money , we paid by the way ! He Basically framed our new custom home and never stayed in contact with us or the sub -contractors. He overcharged us , we paid and he quit all his sub-contractors from working on our New construction. He left us with ************** -we paid in full - NO PLUMBING-we paid . THATS ABOUT ALL GOGENOLA CONSTRUCTION IS GOOD FOR FRAMING & LEAVING ! OMGOODNESS what a nightmare! WE DID NOT SEE AN ELECTRICIAN or PLUMBER for 3 months , basically when HE and HIS family were finished FRAMING and collected their money and quit the job completely! We are two married seniors who thought we were getting our dream home built after 50 years and years of saving ! We have been abused and taken advantage of .

    Business Response

    Date: 08/07/2023

In response to complaint against Gogenola Construction:  After contract was signed and dated by both parties in November of 2022, plans were submitted to the county to obtain permits.  Permits were approved in December. Construction was started in January 2023. We had complaints from our subs that owners were asking for more things to be done than what was in their estimate. This went on the entire time contractor was on this job. Owners would pay subs  prior to receiving a bill: which the contract they signed states "Billed on the first of each month for services completed plus the general contractor fee for each completed service. Purchasers to pay bill by the 10th of the same month bill was received". In June owner sent a picture of the check she was sending us and it was for 3 thousand dollars less than what they were billed. She said according to the bid subs were paid. I informed her at that time that we received a bill from the subs and the money was owed to them and that subs would not continue until we received a check so they could be paid. We notified our subs to not return to the job site until they heard from us. We did receive a check for the full amount billed and notified our subs they could return to job site to finish. The owner had spoken to *************** and to save money decided he would run the electrical wire himself. Gogenola Construction informed the owner to get with the plumber for sinks and faucets. Contractor quit the job on 7/26/2023 due to owners not conforming to the contract. Contractor notified all subs still on the project  of contractor quitting and that if any further work was done by them they were working with and for the owners.

Between Texts and E-mails there are over 100 contacts with the owners.

Our Sub contractors have said they will gladly speak with you if need be.

Please feel free to contact us if anything else is needed.

    Kind Regards,

    Johnnie Gogenola

    Complaint: 20387734

I am rejecting this response because:
We hired a Contractor, and what a sad day it was, that we hired him.
We cannot believe this happened in our neighborhood, ****, ******.

The general contractor Johnnie Gogenola, agreed to build us a home of our dreams, and promised to take care of us, and we can trust him and he will finish the job by the end of July 2023, but that didnt happen.

We signed a contract with Johnnie Gogenola, We paid all the invoices that he emailed to us , although We asked for  printed receipts and invoices to be mailed to our address and no response.

We hoped that the general contractor would pay his subcontractors and finish the construction on our home.

At this point we have no electricity and no plumbing.
Although the general contractor, Johnnie Gogenola has been paid and we have paid overages , over the original bids-  for anything extra .

It has been problematic sending our checks that we write to the general contractor because he was very upset as  the mail was too slow so we had to deliver the check in person or he had to swing by our house and pick it up. We had to drive 40 miles one way to deliver the checks in person several times or wait around at our property until He could come and pick up the check.

Johnnie Gogenola  took our money and quit , as  his wife **** text read
you can finish the job on your own
We are so disappointed in Gogenola construction .

Just be safe if anyone else needs construction done be sure and get feed back from other clients and talk to other contractors, not the very first one you meet and think you have a friend .
    Its business.  Not personal.

The general contractor also generally has a very short temper. Exhibiting such behavior creates a cycle of stress, agitation, and tension.

Since offensive behavior is used to reach to a goal, it is done consciously. This means that the person is aware of his actions. In such cases, it is often seen that the person acts inconsiderate, provocative, and self-centered. As is this general contractor has behaved.

Unresolved = This business responded to the dispute but failed to make a good faith effort to resolve it.

We would be grateful for your prompt reply.

    Best regards
    **** & ********************* - homeowners of a paid for, unfinished, incomplete built home .
    Sincerely,

    *********************
