    Hired **** from Freedom Landscape to seal a foundation and do some landscaping and irrigation work. We went back and forth on a plan for a long time and eventually landed on installing a French drain and sealing the foundation between the footer and stem wall with a wrap and seal. Total estimated cost: $2062. To get started he wanted me to pay half the deposit upfront for materials, I agreed, signed the estimate and paid him $1031 for materials. Then for the next 3-4 months he went back and forth on his plan to do it, he ordered some materials, however when he ordered some of them he either messed up the order or misunderstood and got the wrong stuff. He told me they wouldnt let him return it and that he wasnt sure how to proceed without it. He had the primer and roll of wrap but couldnt start the project without the insulation. He said that he ran into some financial issues, was being evicted, and eventually stopped responding to me. I reached out a bit later and my number had been blocked. I assumed hed just run off with the money/materials and wasnt coming back so I posted on Nextdoor mentioning that I would be looking for a new contractor to do the work. I hired some new folks and then **** reached out from a different number a bit later. I explained that ** hired someone new, and asked if I could at least get the materials that hed purchased with my money so far so I could get the project done. I reached out a few more times and havent heard back in quite a while.At this point Id really just like to get the project done and get the materials, but if I could get the money back that he essentially stole from me that would be amazing too.Appreciate any help, thanks in advance!!
