4/19/23 I called to request service for my *********** electric oven explaining that it was not reaching the temps I requested. For example, for 375 it would stop at 330 or for 475 stop heating at 400. I was advised someone could come. Two men arrived in ************* again described the problem. They asked about error codes &I said there had not been any & I had done some basic troubleshooting like restated breaker. They did a visual inspection of the oven (didn't try heating it or any temp readings) &said it sounded like the thermostat and they would order one. 10 mins at my house. Next day returned & installed thermostat which again took about 10 mins. Oven was set for 375 and waited & it stopped at 330 as it had been previously-so the problem was not fixed. I was advised to call ********** and see if they could help & also that worker who came out would try and do some further researching but it was most likely a different issue which would be a lot more expensive. He then proceeded to tell me I owed $296.82. I was shocked by that amount and he just said most of that is from the part & then we spent time here and installing. I said I was unhappy because I was now out almost $300 and no resolution to my problem & replaced a part that evidently didn't need replacing. I didn't refuse payment as I didn't feel comfortable. I never was contacted again. Starting 4/25 I've called 3 times to try and reach a manager/owner & left messages w/ receptionist. No management called & when I called again today she gave the phone to the worker. I said you are the manager and he said yes & I said the owner and he said yes that was him too. He was also confirmed he was who came to my house. I stated why I was unhappy & he said sorry there was nothing he could do but shortly after left me a message that he could bring out a senior tech next week & check more for no charge and to call him back directly. I am not comfortable w/ this proposal & will not be calling him back.

I contacted the customer as soon as I was aware of the situation, and understood the problem.  Two parts had been installed to make the oven function.  A temperature sensor and a thermal fuse which is necessary for the oven to heat properly.

The temperatures need to be verified with a real, metal thermometer (not just the internal Electronic parts), in order to accurately access the matter.   She agreed to purchase one and get back to me with the results after a week.  If the results are not consistent, we can determine the feasibility of further repair, manual temperature adjustment, or replacement of the electronic control if it is available at a reasonable cost.

We try to repair such problems as hers as simply as possible without installing expensive parts unless we have verified their necessity.

After our discussion by phone, She seemed quite satisfied.

12/2022 I called Gassman Family Appliance Repair because the door stop on my ** refrigerator was broken and the door would bang into the cabinets behind. The repair company asked me to send them a picture of the model number and the broken part, which I did. They said that they would get back to me the next day. The next day I did not hear from them, so I called them the following day. They told me that they could come out and take a look.Once they arrived they proceeded to adjust the front legs of the unit so that it tilted back quite significantly. One of the servicemen kept fiddling with the door using the broken piece of doorstop to try to keep the door from flinging open. I told him he didn't need to do that as I wanted to replace the broken part with a new door stop. The other serviceman went out to the van, and I thought he was calling to order the part. He came back into the house and presented me with a bill for $149. I told him that I would not pay because they had not made the repair and fixed the problem. They told me that was not fair because what if the part was not available? I asked if they called about the part and they said that they hadn't. I asked why they hadn't called to see if the part was available before they came out. Once they left, I called about the part and was told I would receive it within **** days. The price was $10.95 plus shipping. I called the repair service back and said that I had ordered the part and that if they came back to install it once it was here, I would pay them the $149. The next day they texted me to say that they were not willing to come back for the repair. Now my refrigerator is not plumb (very tilted), the door is not fixed, and I can't open my freezer door all of the way. Both of these servicemen seem very incompetent and untrustworthy. I feel that they tried to scam me into paying a service fee for nothing. I was never told about a service fee before they came out.
