    I hired ***************** to sand, strip, stain and paint a china cabinet. I explained to him that I only recently obtained possession of the cabinet which is an heirloom and the sentimental value to me. He and an associate picked up the cabinet from my home on 5/25/22. He sent me an invoice that same day which I quoted the price of $740. I paid half the quoted amount as requested to purchase supplies and start work. The work has not been completed and I have received no estimate of when the work will be finished. The last message I received was on 9/9/22 stating it was "unknown" when work would be finished. I have been trying to contact him since with no response. I received a text from his phone number on 11/4/22 from someone claiming to be his mother informing me he had been in a car accident a few weeks ago and I would be contacted when my belongings were located so I could pick them up. However, I spoke with his mother who verified she did not send the message and **** is not in the hospital and has a pattern of lying and drug use.

    **** has been in the hospital for a month now after sustaining life threatening injury due to a car accident. **** items have been returned. As far as the allegation about drug use and lies. That is hear say and widely false. ****** has spoken to a person who is not apart of Troys life and  has not been for many years. In fact the said person has a history of proven lies herself. As the family members who are helping **** in his recovery ask that the latter part of, if not all of the claims be stricken and not published.

    I am rejecting this response because: **** claimed in his earlier messages that the work he was doing was going slowly. However, absolutely no work has been done which confirms he has been lying the whole time. I was asked to pay the deposit of $370 so materials could be purchased but none were purchased. Since no materials were provided with the cabinet and no work was completed, I still want my deposit back.
