    i ordered leather seat covers from SMS. it took several years for them to produce.They ordered white and black leather whereas i ordrered black / black seat covers. SMS then used black vinyl to make up for the short from teh white leather purchase (which i assume they kept) and usedthe vinyl for the sides of all the covers. The seat back were entirely vinyl and the arm rest ALL vinyl. seat back were sent back and returned in leather - i will not wait years on end for them to fix the rest of the ******** SMS will not return the original leather seat covers i sent to them to use because they did not have a pattern.I bought very nice original seat back covers but were two tone and a good rear seat bottom along with original passenger seat cover. i have been asking for the return for years - they "***" just run you around as per usual as per all of the other complaints against them. i want to retrurn everything from them and will attempt to resolve in small claims if neccesary.I feel like a fool for sending them my hard earned cash before going to BBB site to see the endless complaints against ******** after being jerked around for four years ending up with half vinyl seat covers i paid $4,000 dollars for and now these charlatans are going to steal my original covers. I've had it with the back and forth and horrendous business practices of these clowns.

    Orders placed June 2nd, 2022 with a $1500.00 deposit to reproduce interior pieces for my 1959 Buick - ****** who had taken the orders and charged my credit card for the deposit said it could take 6 months to a year to complete. After a year I was directed to *** from ****** who is in charge of the manufacturing process, she informed me they still haven't made these pieces while constantly lying to me and making unfounded excuses for the delay. I have spoken to her more than a ***** times approximately fifteen months after these orders were placed with the last phone call at the end of 2024. *** said she would have the owner of S M S **** ******* return my last call about these issues however, I never heard from him as well. No one will resolve this issue; They just keep passing the ***** it has now been three years and one month. Please see a detailed explanation in your explanation section, it is very detailed.     I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I don't believe I need to say anymore, if they will complete my order and contact me when my pieces are ready for shipment, then I will be completely satisfied however, I still would like to have a phone call from **** ******* in regard to this entire matter. We need to have a direct connection and a more positive repour with him, it hinges on the fact that if I were to use this company again, I would like to hear from the horse's mouth on how to handle any issues that could arise again from this organization. We are an Automotive Restoration shop in *******, **, ( Village Auto Body ) we are connected to the **** and the Museum. We never know what we will need to start a restoration, if we need new interior pieces and S M S is the only company that can produce what we need, then we will have to call on them again, however we cannot wait three years for the merchandise. This issue has caused us a great deal of time and money, please ask **** to give me a call, I believe I deserve some verbal communication with him.

    I ordered door panels from SMS auto fabrics in April 2023 was told it would be January before I would get them I said that was ok since then I keep getting told a date and when that date arrives the dont have them done and they make a new date just stringing me ******** last conversation was they would be done next week *** would make sure of it that was weeks ago no confirmation and know door panels.I was told by my lawyer to try this route before legal action hoping BBB can help.This has been going on for 2 years now it is clear they are just playing games and was told by *** they would not refund my money I do t think that is for them to decide .Either way I want resolution my money or my door panels .

    I dont understand why anyone from your business would want to rough up a customer Im guessing thats why I have had to file this complaint and why there is 75 plus more on the BBB site. This explanation wait 3 weeks and if I dont see anything advise? Why? Im the customer that has been lied to time and time again why do I need to follow up just finish my door panel and send them you keep track of it and make sure they are sent.This to me is just another stall tactic and I dont know why I was told by *** there would be no refund your company doesnt get to make that decision if you dont supply the product you said you would your in breech of our agreement and I have all emails on promised time frame and none of them have been met.This issue doesnt appear to have a solution that can be taken care of through the BBB as I had hoped ,as in 3 weeks if panels are not sent what will be the next excuse why they havent been sent ? SMS is in breech of our agreement and I do plan to go ahead through legal channels , I do appreciate you responding to my compliant , thank you for your help on this matter.

    I contacted SMS in January 2024 about reproducing some car seat covers. I received a letter from them showing the exact sample of material, as well as the correct carpeting needed for a car restoration. The letter, as well as the salesperson lead me to believe that they had the material in stock and would get on the project right away. I was told turn around time was roughly 6 months. I paid for both an entire set of seat covers up front, as well as for the replacement carpeting on Jan 10 and 11, 2024.After 8 months and no updates, I called SMS. I was told they'd have to check with the production team. Never got a call with an update. In Sept/Oct, I called again. This time, the woman, ***, tells me the material isn't even there yet! And they'd be getting it in November. Called in December to ensure the material had made it. "I'll have to check with production." That would become a common phrase over the next 6 months. When calling to check on an order during business hours, it's about a 20% chance you can get someone to answer. Forget leaving a message- no one ever returns your call. Multiple calls made in February. *** finally said they'd be shipping in the beginning of March. Called at the end of March. "I'll have to check with production." And no one ever actually checks, or at least they never follow-up with any information. Multiple calls in April. When I finally got her on the phone, I asked if she could just get them to take a picture of the material to ensure that it was even there. She spoke to me like I was overreacting when I said I just want to know that someone is going to be working on this. As I was hanging up the line was still connected, and I could hear her begin to laugh on the other side. I've called back multiple times since, only gotten her on the line once. After asking if she can tell me if they've started on my order a mere 11 months AFTER I was told they'd be finished, true to form, *** said, "I'll have to check with production."

    As previously noted in complaint #********, S M S has repeatedly (I believe intentionally) failed to deliver a product that I paid for almost 18 months ago. Since the complaint was filed, someone named **** contacted me via this complaint portal and we began correspondence via email. This was the first time anyone from the company reached out to me after months of attempting to ascertain the whereabouts of the remaining part of my order. Starting 5/17/25, I wrote to ******************************** His response when asked about any progress on my order came on 5/19/25. He said that the seat covers would start being sewn up the following week. Not a word for 3 weeks. I again reached out on 6/9/25 asking if there was any progress. On 6/10/25, his response is that they're sewing them up now. After asking when I could expect them to be completed, on 6/12, he responds with "End of next week," continually pushing the date with single sentence replies. Still haven't even heard the first apology or any explanation dating back to the first complaint as to why things have been an entire year longer than quoted. Or why I was told they had the exact material I needed, only to be told 10 months later they were still waiting to receive the material. 6/25, I asked if the covers had been completed, and he said they'd be finished Friday (6/27) and shipped on Monday. I asked if he wasn't going to be able to ship on Monday to please just give me a call, or to provide the shipping information. His next response was "They'll be ready to go any time. Monday (6/30)- No call, no email. and crickets the next 2 days. I emailed about 3 hours ago, and have finally come to the conclusion they are just playing the waiting game. I don't believe they ever intended to produce seat covers, and they still have the ones I sent them over a year ago to provide the pattern. So not only do I not have the seat covers I paid $1695 for, I don't have the ones I sent them to copy that cost around $400.

    Urgent Complaint Undelivered Product After Over Two Years | SMS Auto Fabrics To Whom It May Concern,I am writing to formally raise a complaint against SMS Auto Fabrics of Canby, ******, regarding an unresolved order and lack of **************** [December 2022], I sent in the original door panels from my 1967 four-door **** Thunderbird for reupholstery. The order was paid in full at the time. Since thenover two years laterI have yet to receive the completed panels or even my original parts returned. Despite repeated follow-ups, I have received no meaningful updates or commitment to a resolution. Many times they just ignore me or will not take my phone calls This delay is unacceptable and has significantly impacted the restoration of my vehicle. It is also a clear failure to deliver services in a reasonable time frame after full payment was ******* this point, I am requesting one of two outcomes:1. The immediate completion and delivery of the reupholstered panels, or 2. A full refund accompanied by the return of my original door panels.I have original invoice and numerous emails in regard to this complaint and can provide if requested. It is too large to upload.

    I ordered a custom fabric from SMS in May 2024 after sending a sample for them to copy. The sample was a headrest cover. I paid $1050 in full upfront for 5 yards of fabric.I was told the fabric would be complete and shipped out summer 2024. I contacted SMS at the end of summer 2024 and they said it will be delayed until November the 15th 2024. I contacted SMS again at the end of November 2024 and they said its delayed until New Year 2025. I contacted SMS again at the end of January 2025 and was told its almost complete and will be shipped soon. After another couple of weeks I contacted SMS again, they replied telling me to be patient and these things take time. I have had a number of excuses such as the fabric is delayed in shipping as its coming from there warehouse. They confirmed it had arrived from there warehouse on the 18th February ************************************ I have asked for photographic evidence of the fabric, this gets dismissed.I have asked a number of times for the sample to be returned as the car it came from needs to be sold.I have requested a full refund three times and this just gets dismissed.The only resolution is a full refund and for my sample to be returned.

    In March of 2023 I sent vinyl upholstery material to SMS to have fake vinyl stitching added to some and fake vinyl stitching with chrome mylar added to some. I also ordered material to buy without anything needed to be done to it. I was originally told ***** weeks well its going on 2 years and I still don't have my order. As recent as October of 2024 I was told they were working on my order. I want my order. There is no reason this should tale 2 years or even 1 year. They make you pay upfront and then don't care how long you wait.

    I placed an order with this company on Oct. 11, 2022. At which time they said it was a year out to start. After said year I reached out about the order.     Hello, I ordered new interior door panels for my 1960 Pontiac Bonneville convertible that I was restoring. The order was placed on 9/2/2021. It was said the order would take about one year to fulfill. I hadn't heard or received anything by 1/13/2023 so I emailed *** at SMS. She said it is still going to be several more months. 7/12/23 *** said she could have my door panels shipped in August. 11/7/23 *** said she would have them done by the end of the month. 1/15/24 *** said these were supposed to be done. 3/24/24 *** said "First of April". 4/3/24 *** said "I will send you a picture tomorrow when I go to production". I've not received a picture or my door panels that I ordered. I would like SMS to finish these so I can finally receive them and install them on my car. Thank you.

    On November 16th, 2023, I placed an order and paid for for a vinyl top from SMS. I was told it would take a few weeks to receive it and it never came. I reached out every month following to check on the status of my order and I was always told it would be a few weeks until I receive it. On May 17th, 2024, I received a vinyl top from this company. It was not what I ordered and I informed them right away. They acknowledged their mistake and told me they would send the correct color top and that I would receive it in a few weeks. To this day, I have not received what I ordered and it hasn't been without trying. Every time I called, I was told the same thing - it would be a few weeks. I finally reached out to the owner of the business in July of 2024. He got back to me right away and gave me a bunch of excuses as to why I hadn't received my order. After exchanging emails with him, he informed me that he would get the correct vinyl top out to me right away as they had figured out the problem. He stated I would receive my order shortly. The order never came. The owner then reached out to me to return the wrong vinyl top so they could resell it to another customer, meanwhile, I still didn't have the correct one. I returned it on 9/27/24. To this day, I've yet to receive the correct part or a refund of $940. I've sent the owner several emails, including asking him where my refund is at and I've not heard back from him. I have several emails detailing what has transpired including timeline and the original invoice.

    I am rejecting this response because: I am not satisfied with this resolution. This company is now telling BBB they will issue a refund exactly 365 days after my original order. This company has jerked me around for an entire year, given me excuses, argued with me, and transferred me around to various people in their company. I have clear and definitive proof with phone calls (attached - from current phone, more calls made on old phone) and emails of everything that has transpired with this company. I have spent over 24 hours sitting on hold, drafting emails, and going back and forth with this company just to receive the product I ordered and was told from the very beginning that they could deliver the product in a few weeks time. The owner has told me he would correct the issue and send me the correct part. He then rescinded his message. He was more concerned with fulfilling other customer's orders than correcting mine. I even have recordings of the phone calls I made to this company and could send those as well. It has now been a month and a half since they received the wrong product back from me but yet they claim that they just now received it. 

    The resolution for this situation should be immediately receiving a full refund along with the order I originally made November 16th 2023.

    Hello,

    Yes, I just noticed a refund of $940 came through my account a few days ago. I would strongly suggest that the context of this complaint remains public because this company should not be in business. Everyone should have a heads up regarding their business practices. I read over 50 negative ****** reviews within the last year and they all say the same thing. Countless hours have been spent on my part going back and forth with them only to receive the money back I paid and no product.
