A few days before Thanksgiving I bought a pint of Pacific Seafood's Oysters for making stew for family on the Holiday. They were labeled "yearlings" which by their website should have contained somewhere around 30 smaller oysters (perfect for stewing). As family arrived looking forward to this stew as it's a very old family recipe I opened the oysters to find out there were ***** total oysters, they were huge and disgusting and covered in a white paste. So I decided to inform everyone there would be no Oyster Stew this year I felt embarrassed and let down. But, I wouldn't serve their product to street rats. Now the company wants me to provide dates, containers and receipts all which ended ** in the garbage and has been taken away now. Their last email they did everything but, call me a liar. So we have a mislabeled product, a misrepresented product and possibly a spoiled product. All would be an issue for the **** If resolve is not found here I will be contacting the *** next.

      Business Response

      Date: 12/06/2023

Pacific Seafood is always sorry to hear of any negative experiences with our products. Our goal is to produce the highest quality products that consistently delight our customers and we are disappointed that this customer was anything less than 100% satisfied.

We were contacted directly by this customer and notified of their product complaint and responded promptly. Our initial response included offering the customer a replacement coupon to try the same or an alternate product. We did not receive a response from the customer to that offer.

For every product complaint we receive, we conduct a standard and thorough investigation. Part of our investigation includes requesting proper documentation so that we can identify and track the correct product and find the root cause of any problems. Receiving proper documentation from the customer aids us in ensuring the product is ours, identifying where and when the product was produced, how it was transported, etc.  Proper documentation includes one or more of the following: Date coding or best by dates from the package, Photos of the package, Copy of the receipt, or Proof of purchase.

In this case, the customer was unable to provide us with any proper documentation that would allow us to confirm that the product was produced by Pacific Seafood or determine any of the other necessary details to fully investigate the complaint and remedy any issues.

We are happy to continue to work with this customer to resolve this issue, but without adequate documentation of the product in question, there is no further action we can take at this time to correct any alleged issues.

I am rejecting this response because: By the time the Company responded it was a week later and I'm sorry I'm not keeping Oyster containers around for a week. And I stated my garbage had run twice by this time. I found another pint in a store labeled "extra small" (same as mine) and the Oysters were huge. They clearly have a misunderstanding and a mislabeling issue on they side. It's not my job to police what they do or don't do.

As far as offering me a coupon to replace, I have zero clue what else they make but, I won't be buying their Oysters ever again and I am trying to get Publix Supermarket's to stop carrying their product. If they want closure send me a list of other products and a nice size coupon for all this time and money.
