I traveled from ********** to ****** in my **** dodge diesel pickup with my cab over camper . It blew a head gasket so I removed the camper and checked in to an rv park 6miles from the *** repair shop. They told me they could repair it and be able to start on it the next day. I dropped the truck off on march 7th in the morning. I told the service writer ***** that it was in fact the head gasket. Well he said it was the oil cooler and proceeded to check that . On Saturday the 11th of march I called and they told me my oil cooler was fine and it was the head gasket and they need to order parts . So they get the parts and start assembling the truck and realize on Friday the 17th that they didnt order oil cooler gaskets . They worked all day Saturday the 18th and couldnt figure out how to adjust the valves . My self being a retired diesel mechanic tried to show them how and they got very upset with me and said if I help it would be $500 per hr labor . They never gave me an estimate but being a mechanic that job is a 10 hr job if you know what youre doing . So finally on march 21st my truck was done . So I picked my truck up on Tuesday the 22nd and loaded my camper up . My temperature gauge was not working and I had to plug it back in . Also on my way about 90 miles from their shop my turbo charger came loose and I had to stop and retighten it. I finally made it to my destination 150!miles from the shop and the head gasket started leaking again. I asked if they had used OEM head gasket and they said no . So they asked me to have it towed back to their shop at my expense. Now here it is April 12th and they still have my truck and wont return my called . Now the good part. They charged me $6180 for a repair that should have been no more the $2500 to $3000. I could have had the ship home and repaired it myself. They had me in a bad spot because it takes special tools to do the job of which I did not have with me. What can I do to get my truck back ?
