    I recently paid for a week stay with super 8 by ******* in Corvallis ****** for Thanksgiving. During my stay I noticed a gas can that was hidden in some bushes near the side of the building. This gas can had been noticably there for a couple days and due to an elevated population of transients in this specific area coupled with the fact that said transients are known to roam through super 8's property regularly looking for cans, cigarette butts,. And really anything anybody staying in this establishment may have dropped, I decided to pick up this gas can and place it visibly in my passenger seat of my car, with all intention of turning the gas can in to the front desk in a timely fashion. It was early 7am to be exact when these events occurred and so I was planning on waiting until after the breakfast rush to report my findings as to not bother employees with anything when they were noticably busy to begin with. I had not even enough time to get to my room remove my shoes and use the restroom before my room telephone rang. I promptly answered it was the front desk inquiring about this gas can. When questioned about this gas can at hand I promptly answered that yes it was indeed in my car and I would be right down to return it to it's rightful owner with no argument or complaints on my end. Upon reaching my vehicle the owner of this gas can was grateful to have it returned understood my reasoning upon puttin it in my vehicle and continued on with his day. The manager however had different thoughts. And proceeded to cuss me out in front of other guests and continued to be extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. My main concern however is the fact that while yes the other customer identified his gas can in my vehicle as I was clearly in no way hiding it the manager violated my rights of privacy as a paying customer by specifically identifying who I was to the other customer at hand. She then proceeded to state that other said customer actually works making it sound as though I myself don't work as well. Being that I am a bigger African American male I feel this largely had to do with my race and am extremely upset about this situation. I feel violated, disrespected, belittled and honestly quite embarrassed,when I was trying to prevent somebody's items regardless of irresponsible placement from being the product of theft.
