Today, my kids and I returned from a few hours out of the house. Upon returning, I noticed the temperature inside was warm, 80 degrees. I checked the ** and it said the temp was set to 70 degrees. I lowered the temp to 68. The air coming out of the vents was room temperature. I called the after hours maintenance line and informed them of the issue. They said they would escalate the issue. I called several times again throughout the day as the internal temp continued to rise. I continued calling the after-hours maintenance several times and left two separate voicemails with maintenance. The ** panel display also stopped working. My kids and I eventually had to go get a hotel as the internal temp increased to 92 degrees and was continuing to rise. The owners (**** and *****) of Duerksen finally called me back and said its not an emergency and theyll call the owners in the morning but its up to the owners if they want to replace the unit, and it could take several days, despite the excessive heat advisory. ***** took the phone from ****, told me I was being ridiculous, and hung up on me. I called back. I asked to file a grievance. **** said Ill have to email them to file a grievance (that does not make sense: file a grievance to the people who committed the offense?). They said theyll contact the owners tomorrow and see if they want to fix the **. I pay $2725/month in rent and was told there was functioning ** in the unit when I signed the lease. The female owner said its not illegal because ** isnt required in ******. Im concerned they are infringing on my right to habitability.

The tenant did not have AC from 1:20 PM on a Sunday and we had a HVAC company to the tenant's rental unit at 8:00 AM and replaced a thermostat and a part in the heat pump. Tenant was without AC for less than 24 hours.
