In February my son in-law ***** ****** purchased a mattress for me from Rifes to help me with my recovery from back surgery. It was a $1000.00 mattress that was on sale for $700.00. Rifes first delivered the wrong mattress so they brought the correct mattress, so I thought. This mattress has hard lumps in the middle of it so there is no way to roll over. Instead I have to sleep on the edge of the bed in hopes that I don't ******************* in the night. I complained to Rifes so they told me they were going to send an inspector to check it out. The so called inspector was the delivery driver. He checked the entire mattress took many pictures then bounced all over the mattress like he was doing acrobats on it. He refused to listen to what I had to say. He did however admit that he felt a hard spot but after returning to the company the story changed & Rifes denied my **************** refuse to make it good. This mattress feels like they pulled it out of a recycle bin & sold it as brand new. I have had numerous people lay on ********* all feel the lump in the middle that prevents one from turning over on the bed. I need help with this or I fear that my back will never heal. I can barely get out of bed in the morning, & then can barely walk. Please help.Business Response

To whom it may concern,
The customer originally purchased a different mattress and had it in the home for a couple days and called the store with the complaint it was too hard. Due to her medical conditions and the fact she did not actually get to try the mattress in store, she was approved a reselect. She came in the store and reselected another mattress. We swapped it out 1/18/24.
In early September, they called the store stating that her mattress had a lump in the middle and that her sister who also purchased a mattress from us on the initial visit was having the same problem with her bed. We set them both up for inspection. Our service tech went out and did the inspections and nothing was wrong with either mattress. The tech stated that the middle of the mattress felt a little firmer due to the fact that she had not been laying in the middle of the bed for the better part of 8 months. This does not qualify as a mattress malfunction; therefore, it is not covered under the warranty. The attached pictures show that there is no lump in the mattress.
If the customer would like, she can try to fill out a claim directly through Sealy, she'll just need to go on the Sealy website and download the claims form.
Sincerely,
******* ********

In September of 2022 I went to Rifes to purchase a kitchen table set as well as a sofa and loveseat I was treated very poorly. When the order arrived, a piece of the table fell off. Also, as the first piece of the couch was brought in, it was not the correct couch. I declined both items. Then I was told that they actually didnt have the couch I ordered. All they had was 2 damaged floor models. When asked if I could get a discount on one of the floor models, I was told no. I had to go back to the store and choose something else. There was only one other option in the color gray. We had already completed financing, so I ended up getting the only option available at that time. We had already sold our previous couch set, so were sitting on lawn chairs in the living room. I was told if I wanted anything else, it would have to be ordered and it would take weeks to arrive. A delivery time and date were set. The time frame was negotiated based on when I was able to get off work. On the day of the delivery, I get a call at work saying the delivery time had changed. I had to take PTO and leave early to take delivery. Fast forward. The loveseat is falling apart, insurance denies my claim, as they say it isnt their fault I was sold poor quality furniture. I called Rifes, sent pictures. The leather on the seat is losing color, and foam is falling out of the foot rest. We are two retired people. My husband has done nothing but sit on the loveseat. Their has been no abuse to the loveseat. It isnt even 2 years old. I was told that the warranty had expired and if insurance declined my claim, I was just out of luck. I was told there was neglect of the loveseat. I dont know what that means. We live in a beautiful home, in an HOA. We sit on our furniture, nothing else. Additionally, the company that made the set had gone out of business. Another reason for why nothing could be done for us. I feel they should replace our loveseat.Customer Answer

Rifes did finally respond. They took the loveseat apart, they took the damaged half and replaced it with another. Possibly taken from a floor display, as the original manufacturer went out of business. However, the problem was corrected. Thanks for your help.Initial Complaint

I purchased a mattress from Rife's Home Furniture for $600 on November 11th, 2022. The original price was around $1,000. I was looking for a firm Mattress to help with my back pain. The selling point on this mattress was that it was a highly rated, firm Sealy mattress. The salesman expressed that this was a great deal. In February 2024 I started noticing that my mattress was failing. I would wake up each morning feeling like I was lying on the ground. The mattress was losing its structural integrity. There was a visible dent where I would be lying. Even after a few hours of lying down you could see an impression. It was so bad that I could roll down from one side to the other - as if I were rolling down a hill. I reached out to ****** on February 26th and expressed my concern with my failing mattress. They said to file a claim someone from their team would need to come to my home and inspect the mattress in person. They sent a guy on Sunday, March 3rd. Upon inspection and many photos of the visible dent in the mattress, the guy agreed with my concerns, saying I had a valid claim & that it was clearly failing. On March 6th I received an email from ****** apologizing for even sending a guy in the first place since my mattress was out of warranty. They were trying to tell me that I only had a one year warrenty. My Sunday was spent waiting around for this guy to come inspect my mattress just for them to tell me they wasted my time. I went to the Sealy website and saw that it states ALL Sealy mattresses were covered under a 10 year Manufacture Warranty. I contacted ***** and they confirmed this. They said to call Rifes as it was their responsibility to submit a manufacturers warranty claim on my behalf & if the reseller refused, they needed to write a letter expressing why they would not act on my behalf as they are the reseller. ** the manager at Rifes said he could not help as I only had one year warranty. To Whom It May ********************************** mattress that ******************** purchased has a one-year limited warranty, as shown in the attached picture. The photos that ******************** provided are from Sealy's website, not Rife's Home Furniture. I did, however, reach out to our Sealy representative, who did confirm that the 10-year warranty on their website does not apply to the mattress that ******************** purchased. Sealy will not service the mattress, as the warranty has expired.
Sincerely,

We bought furniture during the Presidents day sale. The couch was sagging to the middle and lumpy. We had to go into the store and raise heck to get them to even consider exchanging. The kicker is that we were charged for the exchange...We got the replacement and one arm is pulling away from the side and coming unsewed.Business Response
