On September 28th, 2024, I signed up at my local gym for a small amount of training on the equipment to ensure I was using the machines correctly so I don't injure myself. When I signed up at the gym, I received a text from the "Fitness Manager of Oakway Fiit" named ****** who told me I could get a free session with him through my membership at the gym. I met with him, explained my goal or maybe a month or two of Physical Training and was told that it was a good time to join because of a year end deal they were having. He told me that in order to cancel, when I was ready I would just need to give them a 30 day notice. It all sounded good, he asked me to sign a contract for the year end deal, and everything seemed good. Then I tried to cancel. On October 20th I realized that paying them $100 for what were at best mediocre 20 minute sessions weren't worth it, so I texted ****** that I wanted to cancel. At which point began a GIANT runaround and stonewalling. At first he told me he was unable to help me, then directed me to a website that has largely ignored my messages, which eventually moved to emails, including their regional manager, etc. The bottom line is: They have refused to give me a copy of my contract, which according to them obligates me to pay for a _YEAR_ or shell out roughly $500 to cancel. I believe they tricked me into a bad faith contract, and are not allowing me to even see a copy of it. I need help dealing with these people, who have shown themselves to be increasingly working in bad faith, and intent of scamming me for as much money as they can get away with.Initial Complaint

My husband and I had a membership with this club. One day in August of this year, we went to the club to find the doors locked. We were given no notice at all about the closure. I had to ****** it to find out what was going on. I found a news report stating that the club closed at the first of July. The report said Elements members we could transfer to the Oakway location or cancel our membership. We cancelled our membership, but expect to be refunded for our July and August membership fees as well as a yearly membership fee they charged me in August (which they normally charge in January, and they did this year so they've charged this fee twice this year). I've tried to resolve this with them, but no one will get back with me.Initial Complaint

They gave three day warning that the location was closing as well as the Springfield location. I canceled my membership with the manager *************************. They ignored the cancelation and continued to bill me. I called multiple times and sent emails. Now they are threatening to send me to collections. They opened up a new business under the name ***********. I went in there and explained the problem and they said they would check into it and nothing. I just want the $90.50 canceled as a bill and for them to stop harassing me. They are charging me for a membership to a facility that has been closed for months.Initial Complaint

Elements Health Clubs anounced on June 27 that they were closing their West 11th ave location in Eugene. No notice was given to me as a member and I am still being charged for a double membership (their west 11th location and Elements Oakway gym location). My membership for both gyms is still being charged at $ 42 (for the university faculty discount) a month and my husband (*************************) as a family rate only for the west 11th location $ 18. a month. My husband does not want to continue since the gym is closed. I have been charged now for August. The business phone you have and that is on various internet sites ***********) is disconnected. The number on my membership bar code tag for the Oakway gym ***********) is not being answered because it has a full mailbox.Because I cannot reach anyone and there is not billing office reachiable, I am forcedd to Stop payment through my bank. Should the business contact me and make the necessary adjustment, I would be fine with being a member at the Oakway location only with my faculty discount and credit to my account for over-payments.The number on my bar code tag is ELMT ******Initial Complaint

I have requested to cancel several times and they refuse to answer me. I asked for a manager or owners contact info and they now refuse to talk to me. The staff is incredibly rude now that I want to cancel. I do not live in Eugene anymore, I was staying with my girlfriend while she fought her battle with cancer. I am no longer in eugene and I would like this membership canceled. They say it can only be done in person. I am disabled and traveling long distances in my car is difficult for me. They refuse any other way of canceling my membership. I asked if I could fax or mail it to them and they refuse.Customer Answer

Signed electronically and in person to cancel my membership from this fitness gym on June 8th before my billing was due. I was still charged the next month even though I cancelled. I went in person to tell them that they charged me and I told them I wanted to cancel and not be charged anymore. They assured me that would be the last time they charge me money. I was still charged from my card the following month. Ive gone in person to dispute my issue multiple times but the employees and manager dont seem to really care about wrongly billing members of their business.Over the phone they let me know would get a refund in a few days but that was 2 months ago and I havent received any sort of refund or money back.Business Response

Member did not give 30 days notice prior to upcoming charge. In order to avoid charges, thirty day notice is required. Once member has their last charge, they have another 30days to access the club.
