We contracted with ***** ****** of Trinidad Construction, LLC on 10/15/2023 through 11/2023 to do a shower remodel. The shower was to be demolished and retiled and regrouted. The work was originally to be completed in a 1 week turn around time which turned into a 2 week time frame. The original quote was for $4500, Shadi stated that there was additional cement work that needed to be completed to the floor and we agreed to an additional charge of $500. There was also an additional charge of $400 for plumbing fees. The work was completed Shadi said there was a 10 year guarantee on work. Within a week the grout was falling out, we called Shadi who came out to take a look, he said that his supplier sold him the wrong stuff and he would fix it. We were without a shower for another week, he said that it was now fixed. We attempted to reach out to him several months later when the drain grout started to come out and we discovered it was not grout but caulking. The grout in walls is also washing away with every time we wash the walls, the grout in the floor and steps was crumbling and chunks falling out. He did not return calls or email. We contacted another contractor to see about getting the shower grout repaired and had multiple contractors tell us that they would not grout it because it was not done properly and they would not put their license on the job. We were forced to hire a contractor to **** the project. When they pulled down tile they discovered that the tile was not secured to the walls properly and were at risk of falling at any point. We also discovered that the tiles were placed on the floor and one wall over existing tile. The floor had existing damage (which is why we paid the extra $500 in cement fees) but Shadi did not repair the floor only placed new tile on top of old damaged tiles resulting in water damage and cracked tiles, water under tiles, and leaks near the drains.

We hired them to begin 6/19/23 for a 1 week project for new deck: an extension from old footprint 12 to 16 ft, 6ft stairs on one side and standard on other, 11 x 16 roof cover and new railing with hogwire. What we got was a deck full of short cuts and big mistakes for $25K. BIG mistakes. We now have to try our best to minimize/hide them, as we don't have more $ to fix all the issues. We have several photos of the work, their attempts to fix it and what we still need to do. Instead of new railing with hogwire, they bought prefabricated hogwire fencing and attempted to put 51" high fence for our railings. Instead of building a railing they chopped down the fencing, leaving major issues. They did 5ft stairs that dont match up and a terrible job on the railing and smaller set. Completely uneven. They left shingles damaged one our roof, a split beam and so many mistakes upon completion, I can only provide photos to show what we are left with.We gave the them opportunity to fix the first round of really bad issues, but were left with a subpar fix of those and more work to do on our end.Job "completed" 7/7/23, well beyond the week time fame given due to all the mistakes . I dont think there's enough MB to upload the amount of photos documenting all the issues. We can provide more if requested. We believe a partial refund is only fair, because we gave them the opportunity to fix the issues first, they cut corners on doing the first work and the "fixes." The repairs for another contractor are going to be well beyond what we can afford, given the $25k we paid for this project to be done correctly.

    Business Response

We had the agreement to finish the project in one week, and we did do as we promised to do. At the end of the week the client came back asking us to do more extra work out of the contract agreement and promised to pay us for the extra work. Then she came back and asked us to do even more work such as fixing the sidings on both sides of the house, adding lattice all around the deck, painting the cover canopy all with the promises to pay us for the work in which never happened.
we ran into an issue with materials and spoke to the client and let them know it will cost us a few days delay and they agreed to it.
they Went on a vacation and told us to keep on working as we will still need to finish the few this left. ?when they came back we walked through the project and they said it looks great and thanked us and promised us more work, this was on Friday, comes Monday which was pay day they start saying there is few issues that needs to be fixed and yes we did go and fixed everything they asked for and still asked us to do more extra work which we did again just to be nice to them.
at the end of day I walked with Trover all around the house and talked about everything and he said everything looks good yet refused to pay the full amount because of some painting job that need to be done even though they still didnt pay me for the first paint job, I told him that I will be back the morning of the 7/7/23 to finish up, when I arrived they informed me that they didnt get the paint and I should be paying for it after explaining the whole thing to him, he went back to the house for few minutes then came out the a check that is not what I expected ( not including the siding repairs, paint, ******* install as well as few receipts that I gave him for reimbursement)

after all I took the check and walked away to not cost and issue with them.
Now that they are complaining about it, I am requesting a full payments for the items we did and the fixes we have done, And will be taking it to my attorney as I do run a legal business.

i have taking pictures of everything as well as recording of my conversation with the client. Will provide pictures and recordings as requested.
