I had a plugged catalytic converter. I took the vehicle to the shop. There was no check engine lights or problems besides the plugged catalytic converter. When getting my car back there was a loud exhaust leak coming from the area of their repair, plus the check engine light came on. I called them which they informed me after installing the new catalytic converter they noticed a leak from the manifolds. There was no leak diagnosis before, there was no sound of a leak, there was no check engine light. I am mechanically inclined and know what an exhaust leak sounds like. Plus I would of asked them to fix the leak while they where already fixing the catalytic or if they would of told me it was a problem before hand i would of had them fix it. If i noticed it i would of had them fix it. I believe from the work done they made the exhaust leak from the manifolds. I would like to think it was an honest mistake but the front desk made multiple rude comments constantly about my profession. I took the car in today to have them look at. They said they would charge me $600 plus parts to fix the new exhaust leak. I am at a lose of words not by the cost of repair but by the lying and games. I dont understand why they would make my sound and drive worse after fixing the catalytic converter.

**** contacted our office on 4/2/24 and told our Office Assistant that he had a check engine light on and loss of power and that the *** needed to be replaced. We scheduled the repair for the next available opening on Tuesday 4/9/24 at 10:00am. The repairs that were made to the severely plugged *** are standard repairs and very common on the year, make and model of the vehicle (2008 Dodge Grand Caravan odometer reading *******). The customer self-diagnosed for this repair and we made the requested repair. The leaking manifolds that were mentioned to **** at the time of pick-up would not have been known at the time of drop off due to the missing O2 sensor which had been previously removed (by the customer) and the car being driven back from **** (3.5 hours) prior to the *** repair. As **** has mentioned to be mechanically inclined, he should have known that excessive driving on a clogged *** with missing O2 sensor would cause expansion and contraction due to rapid heat, in turn, warping the manifolds causing the gaskets to leak. We have offered to surface the manifolds for him at no-cost shall he wanted to make his own repairs. Cost of the *** repair breaks down to part cost at $600.00 and Labor at $120 which is 1 hour at our shop rate.
