    Reservation was for Sep 9, 2023.We had a family tragedy and had to cancel out reservation. It was 11 months out from our reservation. We had made the reservation 2 weeks prior.The lady was initially quite nice and understanding, but when it came to get our deposit back, her tone widly changed. The lady offered to refund the money if someone just so happens to book that date. I emailed her with this conversation and what transpired.I have tried calling several times and leaving messages to see if someone has booked the date. They do no respond. It would also entierly be on their honor to notify me if this happens. After calling several times, a gentleman finally picked up, had no recollection of the conversation I had with, I assume, his wife and told me there was nothing he could do.I fully understand that a business needs dates reserved and can't just have people cancelling. I could see cancelling within even 6 months would be non refundable. But almost a year out you can't refund it?I feel they have stolen **** dollars from me for absolutely no reason in the face of a family tragedy. What kind of people do this?

    Quite simply, ***** signed a contract stating that he would forfeit his $1,000 deposit if he cancelled his wedding.  Wedding venues do this because when a date is canceled they lose their income for that date.  ***** canceled because he wanted to change the date and location for his wedding!  On WeddingWire he posted that he was married on August 17, 2022.  Rather than getting married in September of 2023 at our venue, he chose to get married a year earlier in August, 2022 at a different location.  His family emergency was that he didn't want one of their mothers coming to their wedding!!!Tell us why here...

    Thank you so much for chatting with me on the phone. 

    Per our conversation, I am writing with the confirmation that we are indeed cancelling our reservation on Sep the Ninth of 2023.


    I also hope that someone will book on that weekend and we can get our **** dollar deposit back. Thank you so much for offering this option, it will indeed help out greatly.


    I will check back in a week or so to see if anyone has booked per your request.

    Her mother is not a nice person. At the time of making the reservation she seemed like she was going to be a descent human. This turned out to be false. She started making death threats against the family and told us that "she was going to get a gun and bad things" were going to happen at the wedding. She already knew where we were going to have the wedding and felt it would be better to cancel. We signed the paperwork on Aug the sixth. Took out the check on Aug the 9th. We mailed it in and Dancing Deer either faxed or emailed us back a contract signed on Aug the 16th by them and wrote TB on some of the dates. We then had to cancel on Sep the 9th per the email attached. As her mother sent these things via text a few days before the 9th. We were technically under contract for less 4 weeks and cancelled with 367 days remaining.



    We didn't want her to know where we were having the wedding and therefore had to cancel. There is an active *** case against her mother over this threat. This was taken seriously by us and for everyones safety we decided to cancel. It was really hard on all of us and we really wanted this venue.



    We can provide copies of the police report and the threatening texts from her mother if needed.

     

    I am still seeking the resolution of having our deposit refunded.

    **********; never told us these details.  Instead he made up lies about us and posted them all over the internet.  We were kind to him and instead he tried to discredit ** and our level of customer service.  We lost this date's booking because of his cancellation.  Sorry, he chose not to work with us and be patient.  We will not be refunding his non-refundable deposit now.  He shot himself in the foot.

    Nothing I said on my ****** review was a lie.

     

    The lady stopped responding to any sort of message or calls. I left voicemail messages with no answer for a month I had to call 11 times continuously before the gentleman answered. I was completely pleasant on the phone and you simply told me there was nothing you could do.

     

    I thought it very impressive she offered to refund the money if someone else booked the date. But I also have no way of knowing if someone ever actually did. And once you started ignoring me, I felt as if I had my answer. You were going to take the money and book the date again.

     

    The date still has 9 months to come. You have not "lost" anything until that date had passed.

     

    Please, I would just like my **** dollars back. It would help out greatly. I will even edit my ****** review after. Please work with me. It has been a train wreck since her mother did all these things. Please.
