On Feb 27, I purchased Insomnia Coach from ****** **** online. I purchased the $499.00 package titled "Self-Coaching." Other options are "Email Coaching" for $1499.00 and "Live Coaching" for $2499.00. I have a medical issue that is being made worse by my last 2 weeks of insomnia. I am desperate for a *********** a retired teacher, my interpretation of "self-coaching" is education I undertake at my own pace or individualized instruction. Teachers know individualized instruction means the teacher allows for modifications and accomodations. The ad for the "self-coaching" said it was a 6-week program, but it didn't state it had to be completed in lockstep. Ad also said I would have 6 months access to the course.I finished Week 1 of the Course on Thursday. When I went to start Week 2 on Friday, Feb. 28 I was locked out of the course with this message; ******* update will be available on March 6." I enjoyed ****** one and was eager to proceed. But the website locked me out because I have to proceed in lockstep. That is not self-coaching. Self-coaching involves choice, and I shouldn't have to commit to 6 weeks of insomnia before I feel better. The only assignment in Week 1 instruction was to write 3 good things about my day each day for 7 days. I have the mental capacity to write 3 things and go on to the next ******. As a teacher of AP English, if I gave a gifted student a novel we were going to read over 3 weeks, and the student read it in 2 days, I wouldn't enact punitive measures against the student. I would give him/her another book to read. I don't see why I'm being penalized for moving quicker. And now I'm stuck looking for more information to help me with my insomnia. I completed one week of instruction. I would like a refund of $416 because I don't want to learn in lockstep. Nowhere in the ad did it state the program had to be completed in lockstep. It says "self-coaching" which means choice. I texted ****** **** at ************ and emailed him. No response.

As stated by this customer, they were unhappy that they could not work through the six week course in less than six weeks. The six week course is deliberately structured this way because the consumption of information is less likely to yield change compared to practicing and implementing what the course shares. This customer emailed and texted over the weekend when my office is closed and that is why they did not receive a response over the weekend. It is now Monday morning and a full refund has been issued to this customer.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

****** **** handled this matter quite professionally. I thank him and the BBB for the support. I simply recommend his advertising state that the pacing of the course is locked week by week to avoid this confusion.

    Sincerely,

    ****** *****
