I recently had a concerning interaction with the property manager regarding a towing notice sticker placed on my motorcycle, which caused damage to its paint job. During our conversation, I calmly explained that the sticker was ruining the paint and should not have been placed there. However, the manager responded in an extremely unprofessional manner, accusing me of throwing a "bitch fit," which was not true. Despite my calm demeanor, she showed no concern for the damage caused and abruptly hung up on me with a ****, have a nice day. I requested a three-day extension for the towing date to find a solution, but she refused, stating she "can't bend the rules for us." Instead, she suggested we park the motorcycle on the street, where it would likely be stolen, similar to previous incidents where my bicycle was stolen and our car was broken into. The apartment complex did nothing and refused to provide security footage to the police. Her dismissive and unprofessional response, including saying "oh good lord" when I mentioned these past issues, left me extremely frustrated and mortified. The unprofessionalism and lack of assistance in resolving this matter are unacceptable.

    Business Response

    Date: 07/22/2024

Several vehicles received a 72 hour tow sticker on this day and all owners removed their vehicles.  This particular motorcycle was broken down with expired tags. The apartment complex does not allow storage of broken down vehicles.  No pictures or proof of damage was ever presented to our company.  Regarding theft, the cameras were viewed and we could not identify any crimes on our videos.  This tenant made repeated calls to our office and their was nothing more that we could tell her.

I am rejecting this response because:

To begin, I would like to clarify the situation and address the inaccuracies in the response from the apartment complex.

    1. Tow Sticker and Vehicle Condition
While the lease does mention the prohibition of storing broken down vehicles, it also states that motorcycles are allowed, which contradicts what a staff member told us on the phone. Our motorcycle's tags expired because it broke down while on the property. We believe someone tampered with it, damaging the key port and rendering it unusable. As non-professionals and given our financial constraints, we were unable to fix or remove the motorcycle. When a tow sticker was placed directly on the paint, it ruined the paint job. When I calmly addressed this issue, I was accused of having a "bitch fit." Additionally, the claim that no proof of damage was presented is misleading; I notified the office that we were unable to remove the sticker without damaging the paint.

    2. Security Concerns and Theft
The statement regarding the security cameras is incorrect. Despite the cameras, our car was broken into, and my bicycle was stolen. The police confirmed that our window was jimmied open, yet the apartment complex claims that no crimes were identified on their videos. This discrepancy raises serious concerns about the effectiveness and reliability of the security measures in place.

    3. Communication with Management
The claim of "repeated calls" is an exaggeration. My husband made a single call to ask for guidance on how to resolve the issue, and I made one call to inform the office about the damage caused by the tow sticker. We were not making repeated or excessive calls.

The response from the apartment complex does not accurately reflect the situation and fails to address our legitimate concerns. We are seeking a reasonable resolution to the damage caused and a review of the security measures to prevent future incidents.

    Sincerely,
