I live in **** ****** and received a ride from a neighbor from a neighbor to Shady Grove where the salesman ****** picked me up. He was 30 minutes late explaining they had to find a battery for the 2013 Mini ****** S because they had been having to jump start it recently and this time it wouldn't hold a charge. This was the first red flag. I suppose if it had held a charge long enough to get me off the lot they would have been fine with that. The car was advertised as having a replacement low mileage engine which it did have. I asked whether the timing chain and water pump had been changed at that time in addition to the items listed in their ********** ad. i was told that they had been changed. Prior to my ride showing up Wednesday 8/10/22 I again asked via text message if they had documentation for the items listed in the ad as well as what I was told. When I arrived at the dealership I asked to see the documentation. The timing chain and water pump had not been replaced. These are known Mini weak spots. Additionally the repair invoice noted that the radiator should be changed as well due to contamination when the originally engine blew up. When I inspected the car despite what ****** told me the tires were not in excellent shape. The front were but the rear needed immediate replacement. The air conditioning was far from ice cold. I did not buy the car and ended up stuck in ******* ** with no way home. I had to get a room at the Comfort Inn at a cost of $150. Bus, Amtrack, flights were either unavailable or prohibitively expensive. A friend who usually drives for Uber agreed to drive from **** to ******* Thursday 8/11/22 to pick me up at a discounted rate of $250. On top of everything else ****** was aware due to discussing title and plates that I am a disabled ******* Vet and had my own permanent license plates. A sincere apology and reimbursement of $400 is the least they can do.
