I took car in to have AC worked on, blowing hot air. Repairman ***** told me I needed a new compressor, oil change, oxygen sensor changed. All these things done within two days and traveling 5 hours to ************* check engine light on, AC blowing hot air again and car overheated. Car checked NO coolant was in reservoir. Cabin filter was nasty hadn't been changed. Car was making a terrible Noice. once checked my hub assembly and rotor had to be replaced. Meineke resolution is to drive my car back to ************** 5 hours to have fixed. this is not satisfactory.Business Response

Today July 1st, I had gone to get my car services with an oil change, and air filter replacement. I had mentioned that my fuel door switch was not working and I needed to use the cable in the trunk in order to open my fuel door. I was charged $165 for an hour of labor for this one issue in addition to my other charges wrong for me assuming that this charge would be rolled into the part order and fixing it once they found the issue especially since what I was requesting seemed like such a simple issue I'm just not the most informed on cars to be able to find out whats wrong on my own. Mind you my car was in for an oil change already. I sat there waiting and watched my car get pulled in and started to work on the time my drivers side door was open and actively being worked on was maybe 10mins if I'm being generous and I was informed the switch was bad and would need to be replaced they could order the part from a ******* dealership near by and install it for an additional $230. So a total of $165 for the full hour diagnostic on my fuel door switch and $230 for a part and instal. To me that seems absurd since I already paid for an hour of labor that clearly was not even used my car was in for over an hour but I was paying for my oil change and the work done for the fuel door switch was probing it and running electricity through the probe to confirm the line was still operable. I of course denied the repair and order of the part. I already felt I was being over charged for this and I could order the part myself for under $30. So $200 in labor for another 5-10min fix was out of the question. It is unlikely I will be taking my cars back here.Business Response

Good morning,
I understand that everyone's money is tight and we need to watch every *****. As a business and as employees of the business we do have to charge so that we can make a profit also. We need to charge for diagnostics time and we need to charge for the parts and we need to charge for installation. Sometimes our minimums seem unfair and sometimes small items get distorted into big ones.
Refund approved. If you paid on a credit card we will refund your card. Otherwise it can take up to 2 weeks for a check.

The resolution of my case was that my refund was approved however there was no other info provided. I assumed I would have been reached out to by someone or that they would refund my card I had paid with as it stated in their response however now that it has been over a week and I have not heard from anyone from Meineke or seen a refund issued. If I could please reopen the case until the resolution of a refund is completed on their end.
Thank you,

I have contacted the store via email as I am currently unable to go in person due to military obligations. However they are not tracking anything in regards to a refund, requesting the business to reach out to Meineke 2032 in ***************** on my behalf as there is a disconnect and without proper clarification/justification it does not seem the location with refund me as they are unaware of who ***** is who had given me the response stating I can get a refund.

The details of the Service: Occurred on 2/23/24 My car is a ***** Trax ****************************************************** our car the parts, water pump roughly 150 and thermometer roughly 120 to 130 Service needed was water pump and housing thermometer part. We went and bought the parts ourselves and paid around 160 for both parts, which was saving us money. The estimate included 5 hours of labor, $150.00 plus tax an hour for a total of 749.95,the two parts, 2 units of coolant and tee part for ***** We dropped off our car early in the morning but we didnt bring the actual parts until around 1 pm. They started actually working on the car around 1:40 and got done a little after 4. When I got to this place it was right before close. The service managers name is ********************. From the moment I spoke his tone was rude, didnt care to even listen to me or what I had to say. He questioned me on picking up MY OWN car as he had been speaking with my husband, told me he had to ask first even though my name is tagged to my car. I asked him why I was paying for 5 hours of labor when there was only 3 and half IF THAT, he proceeded to tell me his labor guy is really good at his job and its a standard to charge 5 hours even if the 5 hours are not all used. He said if they had worked more hours they wouldnt have added more time, u argued that not using hours And just willling charge $200 or more for labor that wasnt done is the most wrong and unlawful thing to do. After we paid for our own parts we still paid way too much as the service itself did not take 5 hours. ***** was not nice and cut me off and will never take my car back to his place that is willing to take money from people, put yourself in our shoes and tell me you wouldnt try and fight to get your money back on unused time.Business Response

My catalytic converter was stolen during a weekend trip to ********. I realized something was wrong with my vehicle as soon as I started it and took it to Meineke store **** to have the issue diagnosed on 03/08/2023. They quickly were able to determine that the catalytic converter had been stolen and offered to put on a cat guard with the replacement catalytic converter to prevent future theft, which I agreed to. The catalytic converter install and labor cost $763.44, and the guard and labor cost $598.95. After they gave me back my keys, I noticed clunking noises and vibrations as I was driving so I took it back to the Meineke center. After looking at the vehicle, I was told that the noises were a different issue that I would need to get diagnosed. On 03/10/2023 I dropped my vehicle off at the local ****** Dealership for a diagnosis. The issue, as identified in the attached ****** invoice, was due to an inproperly installed cat guard and that the install "would not help reduce future theft opportunities". They removed the cat guard and the noises stopped. I called Meineke after to get a refund, which I felt was reasonable considering I had to spend $163.60 to find out the improperly installed cat guard was the source of my issues. I was told that they would not give a refund for a fabricated part and that the best that they could do was reinstall it. The part was installed incorrectly previously by this location, and after the dealership stated that it would not prevent future theft, I was not happy with this option, but I drove it back down to the meineke location on 03/24/2023 to have them reinstall the part. I am currently having the same issues. I would like my money back so I can have a cat guard installed by a differnet company. This issue has cost me hours of time in driving to ******** and back and waiting for "repairs", and hundreds of dollars. My car still sounds terrible, and I'm driving around with a cat guard that I am not confident will prevent theft.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: It was taken back to Meineke and put back on and and my vehicle sounds terrible again. I expressed my concerns about the noises when it was initially put on and was told the issue was unrelated. I paid to have the issue diagnosed, and it was determined to be from the work done by Meineke. Meineke offered to put it back on in lieu of a refund, I accepted. The issue is happening again. I don't trust Meineke to work on my vehicle again. I don't want to take it back to a Meineke location for a third time to have the same issue. I'd like to take it somewhere that I trust to work on my vehicle.

followup to an earlier complaint, previously paid ***** for a wheel well liner that was never installed or recieved, during the time period of my last copmplaint I was informed they finally recieved the part, but at this point my car was still undriveable and I couldnt pick it up, I have requested a refund, and was told by *******(supposed strore owner) that he could give me store credit, I said Id take the store credit, I said I could just come pick up the part then, he said they dojnt have the part anymore, I said Id take the store credit then, and he could use it to reorder the part, he changed his mind and said hed give an oil change, I questioned him on the change and he started acting intense telling me he wasnt gonna argue that he was gonna give me what he was gonna give me, I told him fine, ill take the oil change, and he kinda chuckles and tells me they are 4 weeks out for scheduling, again this shop persintent to treat me poorly. they took a year to get the part, only told me they had it after my last complaint to the bbb, and wont even give me the part or a refundBusiness Response

I have reviewed the situation with the managers involved. they are adamant that they have contacted you numerous times for you to pick up the part and the calls are unanswered. I would like you to get in contact with the shop and we will resolve this to your satisfaction as long as you are reasonable. We feel we have gone above and beyond our duty to get the part to you but need to get this resolved.

I am rejecting this response because: simply, its false, no one at meineke has EVER gone above and beyond, rather sunk as low as imaginable and im saddled with all the repercussions. no one contacted me about the parts arrival until the last time I made a complaint to the BBB. and at this point I did not want my car in to be touched by meineke supposed mechanics again. and when I called to ask if I could come pick up the part or a refund I was outright lied to that I would be allowed store credit and it was turned into an oil change I DONT WANT from meineke, I would never take my car to meineke again, and would STRONGLY asdvise anyone against it. I was treated like garbage through the entirety of our dealings and further left with a car that had a catostrophic break failure WHILE I WAS DRIVING. a reasonable conclusion would be at least give me my money back for the literal part I never recieved, not an oil change from a shop I wouldnt trust with a vehicle again. the so called "above and beyond" was to make it so I CANT contact the shop again, because the supposed manager/owner of the oregon city location wanted to play phone tag and act like a tough guy while lying to me, then tell police id been harrassing him by calling the shop after he hung up on me. so how do I contact the shop? I was explicity told not to contact directly again. and told id have my best luck contacting bbb and taking it to civil court, I dont wanna be doing this with my time, but what else is there when a bussinesss robs you. I stand firm meineke has been the lowest of the low, all managers have been blatant sham artists. and corporate meineke turns down all responsibility for its stores. I called, month after month for a year about the part, and never even got calls back, esppecially did not recieve any calls first ever. contact me, with my refund, since you have my contact info right? least yall can do. above and beyond wouldve been not saddling me with dangerous brakework that a meineke employee himself said was shotty and desserved to be fixed before learning it was meineke who did the work. *********** dont stand by anything but being dishonest charactures of exactly the kind of cartoonish scam artist mechanic stereotypes. I trusted meineke because I believed there may be a greated overseeing company who could make sure people werent getting scammed now its obvious the largeness of the companny only makes it easier for individuals to be bullied and treated poorly. should this be posted online, anyone reading this, please dont waste your time or money, someone else will do the work right, and probably cheaper to boot. to meineke, and whichever person is pretending to be the manager/owner atm, DO BETTER, people deservee you to perform safe car work, and own your mistakes and stand by fixing them, non of which are yall doing, and other online reviews are clear enough about that for all our behalfs.
Sincerely,
***** GhostInitial Complaint

First i want to point out that this is the first i have heard about this complaint and would like follow up on why the BBB thinks i was notified when i was not. I respond to any complaints that i get in a timely manner.
I contacted our management team and got this reply:
Resolved directly with the customer, there was a lack of communication during the cash out with **** about the military discount. The work was sold and explained to **** by ***********************, which **** did verbally agree too. **** misunderstood my explanation of cost and services required after discussing his concerns with him we settled on a partial refund which he felt was very fair.
We will contact the customer directly to verify that he is satisfied.

I am seeking refund for faulty brake work, acco.panied by predatory warranty claims and general poor treatment. I first took my car to meineke 05/29/2020 for what was a basic brake job. as well as work to my emergency brake. To start I was talked into specific brakes under the promise of a lifetime warranty ( including being told "you wont have to pay to get brakes done again on this car") for a total cost of $1271.22. they kept my car in the shop for months, and would not keep any contact with me during that time. This was during the pandemic, so when I finally got my car back I was driving very rarely. The following year as I began to drive more, I began having issues with my brakes again. 8/10/2021 I was told one of their calipers had broken, was leaking and I needed to replace it again. At this time my e brake also wasnt working and needed followup repair from them. So I also added having a new wheel well liner installed. Both of which I paid for. ***** for the fender liner ****** for the new caliper and ****** for labor, (a headlight was also replaced at this time) again they had my car for MONTHS in the shop, and were not keeping contact with me, when I contacted them they told me they didnt have the wheel well liner yet(they only just within this last month got that part for me, over a year later.) Also citing that the ebrake was giving them trouble and they couldnt figure out how to fix it.Again after receiving the car had minimal driving need, until I move earlier this year, when I began having further issues with the brakes, leeding up to, my brake going out on me completely, 0 function. I was leaving to run an errand and the brakes went completely dead. I had the car towed to meineke again to which I was told, the brakes were completely ruined because a faulty brake had been leaking causing damage to the main cylinder, the rear brakes where completely shot, fluid completely empty. They refused responsibilty, even lying about doing the original work.Business Response

!) The warranty was for one year on all parts and labor except the pads which are warrantied for life.
2)It is our goal to get the vehicles out as quickly as possible but there are times when we have difficulties getting parts etc. The details of your vehicle are not known to me as the manager at that time is not with us.

when I contacted them they told me they didnt have the wheel well liner yet(they only just within this last month got that part for me, over a year later.)
4) Our manager has left several messages on your system letting you know the fender well is in and he has not heard a response.
5) I will get further information about this. It is extremely unusual that we cannot identify a problem. Also citing that the ebrake was giving them trouble and they couldnt figure out how to fix it.
6) Age is as harmful to vehicles as driving. Time causes corrosion, fluids to take on moisture and parts to bond together through lack of movement.
Again after receiving the car had minimal driving need, until I move earlier this year, when I began having further issues with the brakes, leeding up to, my brake going out on me completely, 0 function.

Complaint: 17769374
I am rejecting this response because: it is by no means satisfactory, and again shows meinekes lack of resposibility for something as serious as brake work!) The warranty was for one year on all parts and labor except the pads which are warrantied for life.
(response 1) The parts and labor were faulty from the get go, and I didnt have my car back for the full year because my car was in the shop for MONTHS
2)It is our goal to get the vehicles out as quickly as possible but there are times when we have difficulties getting parts etc. The details of your vehicle are not known to me as the manager at that time is not with us.
(response 2) that is not my fault seeing as to how the manger left during the time my car was in the shop, there should have been better transfer of info within the shop
3) Vehicles age by miles and time. It can be just as difficult on a vehicle to sit or low mileage as it is to drive normally.
(response 3) (this was no crazy amount of time passage, but was( by anyone who ive shared the story with including ****** at Meineke before I proved meineke did the work) a short time for the brakes to be demolished, and need replacement in full and excess all over again, having my whole brakes done twice in 2 years adding up to almost $4,000 dollars is ridiculous. I drove about ****** mile in the few years. ****** himself told me that whoever did the brake work owed me repairs, until of course I proved it was Meineke who did it.
When I contacted them they told me they didn't have the wheel well liner yet (they only just within this last month got that part for me, over a year later.)
4) Our manager has left several messages on your system letting you know the fender well is in and he has not heard a response.(response 4) yes, I got one message, recently, a year later, now that I don't even trust meineke to install the liner, which I paid for the installation of already, and the part, I have called 15 plus times throughout the year and not gotten responses at all following up on this, obviously not looking to deal with shifty Meineke anymore, I will come by to pick up the part, and I expect my money for labor back because after two faulty brake jobs, Meineke isn't touching my car again.
5) I will get further information about this. It is extremely unusual that we cannot identify a problem. Also citing that the ebrake was giving them trouble and they couldn't figure out how to fix it.
(response 5) the ebrake is still shotty and it seems clear to me that it isn't unusual that the Meineke techs cant do their jobs worth the money or time they wasted. Everyone close to this situation is appalled at Meineke.
6) Age is as harmful to vehicles as driving. Time causes corrosion, fluids to take on moisture and parts to bond together through lack of movement.
(response 6) we all know cars age, this is not that, this was shotty work and jargon isn't fooling anyone, the better business bureau aren't fools. The 2 years on the same brakes prior to Meineke touching the car didn't fail miserably and deteriorate like wet tissue, so why does your brake work barely last a year? And that is expected? **************I had my partner call and ask what brake work would be like from Meinieke and they were told life-time warranty, as was I when I went to get the brakes done in the first place. The driving was just regular small amounts of driving. There was no pure lack of movement
7) Your vehicle had many items recommended on your last inspection that we were not authorized to replace. I believe that those parts would have prevented your impending failure.
(response 7) this is pure bs, when I was there, in person, I was told the other items at the time WERENT necessary, as at the time I was willing to have done whatever work needed to get my car healthy and running again. I absolutely did not decline anything I was told I should have done. I believe this is a cap, and you really want to cover your a** **************** more about the money than good work. And I will be leaving extensive negative reviews of both shops under this ownership, and the useless corporate office complaint department
8) This is an accusation that I take very seriously. If you have documentation showing that there were misgivings in this transaction I will address them immediately.
(response 8) You are right, this is very serious. When I walked into the shop most recently after having my car towed in, I was told by ****** there was no record the brakes had been done the second time by Meineke. He told me over the phone(paraphrasing) whoever did the breaks on august 10th shown on carfax owes you repairs for shotty work, but it wasnt meineke I said Meineke did the work and he said no they didn't, so I went into the shop, and proved Meineke did the work via my bank statement, which was declined as proof somehow, to which I responded with THE RECEIPT from the previous work. This is true lying. I filed a complaint with Meineke corporate immediately. ****** changed his story right away upon learning Meineke did the work and said that things shouldnt actually be covered by the shop who did the faulty work. ****** also refused 5 or so separate times to give me the phone number to speak to the manager and/or owner of the shop saying he needed to talk to him first
I see no justification for refund.
Yes, well I absolutely do, as do multiple other people who know the situation, I never had a car with safe brake works since Meineke touched it, and have had to have the work re done with added damage from the garbage state Meineke's poorly trained employees left it in. im currently looking into further legal action after speaking to a lawyer, for leaving me with dangerous brake work, I feel *** pertain to bias against me as a visibly transgender person. I was treated very poorly and flippantly through all my in person interactions, talked to as if I am stupid and left waiting for the most simple things until I began action against meineke, and I dont believe anyone should be put in danger like this. Must I say again, well within a normal time frame brake work should hold up ! was left with brakes that fully did not work and put my life in danger. Even ****** himself said the last brake work was poorly done, and was very adamant that I was owed for the new damage AFTER inspecting the car, while believing he was placing the blame on a different shop.
Sincerely,
