Oregon Anesthesiology Group continues to send me multiple, duplicative, ERRONEOUS bills even after I have made two attempts to clarify the issue with them. These bills come with letters threatening me with collections and legal action even though *** has already acknowledged that I do not need to pay these bills, and that these exact same bills have been settled 100% with my insurance group. After several calls to the *** business office, I have been reassured that I do not need to pay these bills, but the bills keep on coming. There is nothing and nobody to be trusted at OAG, and their whole billing process seems to be on automated pilot. I have a large file of documentation ready to go should *** try to pursue collections. It's a shame that, in spite of all their reassurances and promises that the ERRONEOUS bills will stop, the bills just keep coming. It's even more disappointing that nobody in the *** offices has tried to fix the problem.

We are in receipt of complaint ****** regarding Oregon Anesthesiology Group (OAG).On behalf of ***, I apologize to the patient for the errors made on his account and am providing an explanation of the cause below.

The patient received anesthesia services in July 2024. In August 2024, **** billing vendor submitted a claim to the patients insurance, which included a pain block and ultrasound guidance (USG), in addition to the main surgical procedure. Insurance initially denied the claim and requested copies of the patients medical records for claims processing. These records were submitted, and insurance confirmed receipt in October 2024. Due to a backlog, insurance took until February 2025 to process the claim. At that time, insurance allowed and paid $1,143.75 for the main surgical procedure but denied the pain block and USG,considering them bundled with the main procedure. Our billing vendor then billed the patient $137 for the ****

In March, the patient contacted our customer service line to request an itemized statement, which was forwarded to our billing team to send. On the same day, a representative from the patients insurance called our billing team to inform them that the $137 balance for the *** is a contractual adjustment and not the patients responsibility. Consequently, the billing team adjusted the $137 balance, and the statement sent to the patient reflected a $0 balance. The original statement sent to the patient in February was issued in error.

In March, the patients insurance recouped the original payment of $1,143.75,prompting our billing team to submit an appeal. In April, the billing team received the insurance recoupment ***, which also included the original payment of $1,143.75. During this process, the $137 USG charge adjustment was mistakenly reversed (i.e., added back to the account) when the recoupment was posted to the account, resulting in another erroneous statement being sent to the patient. The patient called our customer service line again regarding this new error.

I am confirming that the patients existing OAG account shows a zero balance, and our billing vendor has placed a statement hold on the account ensuring no further statements will be generated and sent to the patient.

We appreciate the time and effort the patient has taken to bring his concern to our attention.
    Sincerely, *. *****, Compliance &Privacy Officer

Dear *. *****, Thank you for your *********** spite of my numerous telephone and email requests for clarification of the redundant, illegitimate bill that Oregon Anesthesia Group has sent me, no representative of *** ever responded. It would have been nice to have received a reply, and even an apology, for the continued inconvenience. Instead, *** presents itself as an irresponsible and dismissive provider of medical services. Hopefully, OAG learns that when it makes a billing mistake, and makes the SAME mistake time and time again, that it's OK to apologize to the client. Unfortunately, in my case, extracting a response from OAG required filing a complaint with the BBB. That's embarrassing. I hope OAG takes appropriate measures to ensure that its office processes do not result in future unethical, and potentially illegal, billing. It would be a shame to learn that OAG's billing behavior remains the same. Thank you, *. ******, former patient

I had surgery 9/19/2022 and received a quote for the cost of the procedure, which I paid on the day of surgery. I have since called OAG at least 6 or 7 times to get a statement that I can turn in to my insurance company for reimbursement (should receive the full payment of $900) and have yet to receive it. I did receive 1 statement from them which showed 2 charges, for a total of $3013. I have the letter stating the cost of the procedure would only be $900, which they said they would send out the statement for. Needless to say, I'm still waiting. If I miss the deadline for submitting this for reimbursement, and have to eat the $900 I am really going to be upset!! Lousy customer service in the billing department.
