The last date of this transaction was Friday, May 9, 2025. However, I have been charged $29.99 for the past 2 months (April and May) and paid a partial payment of $14.00. This company emailed me the following on May 9th, 2025:"Regarding the price, we have a promotional pricing where first month you pay the equivalent to a single wash ($11 / $ 14 / $17 / $20 ) and the second month its for the regular price." However, I paid for a single wash for the first month, but was also charged $14.00 on top of this. I was also charged $29.99 for April and $29.99 for May, despite two employees telling me that the first month would be free and that the subsequent months would be $20.00 each. I reached out to this business at least 5 times for resolution to this, but they denied giving me back any money and stated that their employees did not tell me this despite the fact that they did. When I could get no resolution through email, I went personally to this company and asked how to cancel this membership as it was displaying false advertising tactics. The employees there did NOT even know how to cancel this membership.

      Business Response

      Date: 05/13/2025

Washman has not offered a "first
month free" promotion. Our current promotional structure allows customers
to pay the equivalent of a single wash for their first month, followed by the
regular monthly rate, on her particular case $14 first wash and $29.99
following month; As clearly stated in the promotional materials provided at the
time of purchase and on site flyers Ms. Ravengael’s account reflects this
pricing structure, and she was charged correctly based on the level of service
      chosen.
      Additionally, Ms. Ravengael has
requested a refund for services already rendered.
Given that the services were used in full and her account remained active
during this period, a refund is not warranted.
Adding to this matter, I found an email she sent us on 4/1/2025 where she
requested to cancel her account but we couldn’t locate it, asked for more
information and she never replied to us, making the argument regarding don’t
know how to cancel, invalid, you can find the email attached here.
      For these reasons, we
believe this matter has been handled appropriately and that no refund is
      necessary.

      Please
provide the following for your tag to avoid further charges and complete
cancellation; (We also needed to know five days prior to the renewal date to
cancel the tag without it renewing) You can cancel via email at the contact
information below or just respond to this email. If we cancel the reoccurring
payment, tag will remain active until anniversary date.

May I please cancel my monthly membership for Washman

      Complaint: 23316519

I am rejecting this response because:
Washman sent the BBC ONE email of MANY emails I sent them trying to resolve this situation (the last email I sent them was NEVER even replied to by them). I have worked very hard to try to resolve their false advertising practices to try to get the money back they stole from me - the person who "sold" me this car wash package (as I have already told Washman-as you will see in the following email chain) TOLD me that the first month would be FREE and I would be charged $20.00 per month thereafter. The first month was NOT free - it was prorated at $14.00 per month. Additionally, for April and May of 2025 I was charged $29.99 for EACH month - NOT $20.00 per month, as promised. I have asked Washman for a refund for the first month and to receive a $10.00 refund for the months of both April and May.  They refused to accommodate either request and then just ignored my email and did not respond. Please see email chain below for proof:

Email to Washman dated Friday, May 9, 2025: From Complainant (Ravengael)
      Hello,
I joined that Washman monthly club for unlimited car washes. I was told that it was $20 a month. I looked at my bank account and it looks like what's coming out is $29.99 a month. That was not what I was told. Can you confirm that this is the case? Is there any way that I can get the $20 a month price that I was quoted when I got it? Also, can you tell me what date next month that this membership expires? Thanks, Krista Ravengael

Email from Washman dated May 9, 2025:
      Good afternoon
Can you please provide me your tag #? It’s the sticker placed on your windshield
Regarding the price, we have a promotional pricing where first month you pay the equivalent to a single wash ($11 / $ 14 /  $17 /  $20 ) and the second month it’s for the regular price, please the flyer attached with prices; share me your tag so I can give you accurate information regarding your account.

Email to Washman dated Friday, May 10, 2025: From Complainant (Ravengael):
Didn't your number one start off as $9 just a few months ago? It seems like those prices are creeping up quick. I will have to go look at the license plate and member number. My husband has the car right now so I will look when he gets back and let you know.

Email from Washman dated May 10, 2025:
Some locations have $9 washes and other $11, prices haven’t change in over 2 years but I can help you further once I have more information.
To help you to locate your account you can also provide me the following information

Email from Washman dated May 10, 2025:
      Good afternoon
We haven’t had a promo for free in the first month
You paid $14 on 3/9/2025 equivalent to the wash #2 ($29.99 a month normal price) and next months are $29.99
Cheapest one it’s $19.99 redeemable just at that location you have been going to
I can downgrade it for you, just confirm

Email to Washman dated Friday, May 10, 2025: From Complainant (Ravengael):
That's what they told me and that's why I joined. When I asked how to cancel they did not even know how. I was promised one month free. If I can get $10 off for this month and the rate of $19.99 (as I was also promised) for the upcoming months, plus one month free I was promised, I will agree to join.  If you could reverse the $29.99 (in effect refunding the first free month I did get) I was recently charged back to my credit card, I will agree to pay the $19.99 for the rest of the months beginning in June.
Someone needs to inform the staff at these places. As I said, they did not even know how to cancel and obviously did not submit the promo card for the first free month I was promised.  Please advise if this is agreeable.
Email from Washman dated May 11, 2025:
      Good morning Krista

Email from Washman dated May 11, 2025:
Regarding your account I can’t give you a free month because we have never had that promotion at the company, I can downgrade you to the wash #1 and that would extend your next billing date until 6/15/2025
Cashier that sold you the membership has been in the company over 4 years, he knows the procedures, additionally phone number it’s on the receipt was provided to you when you signed up
Cancellations need to be requested at least 5 days before billing date to avoid the charges, once its posted I can’t reverse it.
Confirm if you want me to downgrade it, thanks!

Email to Washman dated Friday, May 11, 2025: From Complainant (Ravengael):
The fact that you're saying you have never had that promotion at the company is an outright lie. There was a huge sign at your car wash that said first month free. I asked the cashier and he told me that I would get the first month free and $20 a month after the first month. This is ridiculous! That same cashier said that he didn't even know how to cancel the membership after I came in and asked him. You had a huge sign out there that said first month free so how are you going to say you never had that promotion? So, if you're not going to give me the first month free as your company advertised and as your workers told me was the case, I will go to the Better Business Bureau and other federal and local government agencies letting them know that you are engaging in false advertising.
Please confirm that I will take your rate of $19.99 dollars a month for the month of May (please refund me the $10 as you charged me $29.99), but will cancel my membership in June. This is more than 5 days notice so please do not charge me again in June.

      Sincerely,

       --Krista Ravengael

Washman does not have the right to "decide" whether a matter is closed or not (believe it or not, this is America and customers actually have certain protections against predators like you).  You never once offered ANY remediation as requested REPEATEDLY on my part and which has been REPEATEDLY denied or ignored by your company.  Instead of being a reputable business, your company has continually (3 times) tried to upsell me the very service you have repeatedly lied to me about.  Wouldn't it be easier to stand by your business's integrity and the satisfaction of your customer base? By taking your fallacious hardline stance you have lost a customer (and I would venture to say many more).  Your company needs to "wash" the stink off of itself.

I know that my membership has been cancelled because I AM THE ONE who cancelled it in May. I am still asking for a refund due to your false adversing.

I was charged: $14.00 (prorated for half a month - the month I was told was going to be FREE.

I was also charge $29.99 the next month, when I was TOLD BY YOUR STAFF that the price would be $20.00 per month.

I was again charged $29.99 the next month, when I was TOLD BY YOUR STAFF that the price would be $20.00 per month.

This totals a refund of of $33.98 that Washman owes me. When I receive what I am owed, I will close this complaint

Several years ago, I purchased multiple "Washman Gift Cards" with purchases of a number of "washes," not "currency" for washes. I bought deals such as "buy 3 washes, get 2 free." I clearly remember purchasing gift cards which gave me an average of about $5.50 per wash. Back then, when I used my card, they would subtract one "wash," not a dollar amount, when I utilized their service.Recently, I went to get my car wash (had not used my cards for a couple of years) and they used my card but charged $11 per wash, which was twice of what I paid. They explained that they are using "currency," not number of washes now.I emailed Washman sharing my story. They never responded.I purchased "washes" and should be given the appropriate number of washes. There were 6 or 7 washes left on my card.

On Feb 11, 2025 at Washman Car Wash on ***********************************Paid $18 for a quick car wash. Their Roller caught on the side of the rear bumper of the Van and ripped it off completely. Made a claim the same day, a week later got a call and was told by claims department that they are not going to cover the damages due to it not being to their standard prior. Offering some coupons instead. Shady Business Practice.

Washman denied your claim because of previous damage. That you can clearly see in the provided photo. We have a disclaimer at the entrance of all of our wash locations that state in part "Washman is nor responsible for pre-existing damage or loose parts".

I would like this Complaint be posted on BBB. There was no previous damage. both sides of the bumper looked the same before the damage. The picture show exactly what the faulty roller did to the bumper. Washman Carwash doesn't want to take responsibility for their faulty equipment. Shady business.

On June 19, 2024, we took my car to the Washman Car Wash on Commercial in *****. Going into the carwash, everything was fine on my car. As we were coming out of the car wash, we (including the guy drying my car) noticed that my windshield had been cracked. We filed a report with ****, the manager, who was very helpful. After not receiving a call from Washman, I called the number provided to me by ****. I received a call back from *****, who is apparently designated as the person to determine whether or not Washman is at fault. I met with him this morning. He scratched and scratched at the crack, then proceeded to tell me my windshield broke because of a rock chip. There is NO rock chip there. He told me I could go through MY insurance to get the windshield fixed, that they are no fault. All I want is for Washman to pay my deductible (I have ********************** But he refused and threw coupons at me for free car washes. I am very mad and disappointed. I hope someone takes care of this, and takes care of *****' actions.

      Business Response

      Date: 07/01/2024

Washman is not responsible for previously damaged items. The only way for your windshield to crack in the wash is because of a previous issue. Sometimes rock chips can be very small. When a rock chip is present the integrity of the windshield is compromised. Windshields expand with heat and retract when cold. When there is a rock chip present this expansion and retraction causes the windshield to crack. Washman is denying your claim and considers the matter closed.

On July 17th, 2023, I went into washman car wash on ************* and *****/************* in *******/********* area. I typically always walk around to check my vehicle which I did. And noticed my car had damage on the rear bumper. When I spoke with the reps that were there. They immediately denied liability and said that could have happened before. Over the course of the last 2 months I've spent my time trying to speak to them and no solve has occurred. I then went to my dealership and asked them to look at my vehicle as it still had warranty on it. I told them what happened, and asked could this have maybe been a manufacturing issue maybe due to the heat from the car wash and the bumper warping a little? They said absolutely not. They should be taking responsibility for this as this is not the first time this has happened with washman. I've had no success with washman corresponding or agreement to liability, and a friend of mine said I should submit a claim with you guys and see if we can get this resolved. I'd really appreciate any assistance. I JUST bought this vehicle in JUNE, so I had the car for a little under a month when this happened and have not been able to get anywhere with them. I will upload receipt from my bank account that I did in fact pay for this service on that day, and upload pictures (if I can) that shows the damage.Side note: in my previous car, I had never had any issues with washman and loved going there, and I always paid for the highest wash service they had. Now I'd rather pay more and get my car detailed then risk this happening again...Thank you in advance in your assistance in this. It will be much appreciated, and hopefully you can help!PS. I am not sure why your system is defaulting to the washman on 82nd Ave. This was not the location where this happened. Every time I picked the location on ***** and 242nd/***** DR, it would revert back to the 82nd location.

Not necessarily rejecting your response. I went to the location and requested specifically to fill out a claim form (first time I heard of it). They knew about it and the manager said yes of course we can help with that. Not sure why this was so difficult in the past if you already have a claim form that I can easily fill out. Regardless, I did fill out the claim form, they already found my vehicle on that date of 7/16 where my car went through the car wash and are sending it up the ladder. The claim number is *******. I am hopeful this will get resolved, but I'm not 100% sure if the BBB claim should be closed or not until I get a response back from them. (I've never done this before)

      Business Response

There two options available after filling out a claim form. It is deemed to be the fault of the wash and we take care of the issue. The second option, it is deemed to be not the fault of the wash. If they found the car on the available video (since its been a number of months, it may not be available) this should be a quick turnaround. I am rejecting this response because:

So I met with the damage adjuster and he claims that the car was backed into maybe in a random parking lot that I parked in. While this may be quite possible, as is with any case, it is diminished by the fact that 1, I primarily work from home, and 2, I park in a closed garage. Based on my findings online there has been a ton of damages from car washes.

The other particular thing I found is, the gentleman that handled my claim (manager I believe) stated that in order to submit the claim once I fill it out, they would need to go look at the video footage and see if my car actually went through the wash in order to submit it. By the time I filled out the claim form, his associate had told him he found the video of me going through the wash and was already ready to submit the claim.

Now speaking with the damage adjuster, he is saying that the footage is not available for viewing and that what the manager said was incorrect. It doesn't necessarily match up with the story of what the manager who submitted my claim said.

Is there anything else we can do?

      Sincerely,

      *******************

6/30/23 I went through the car wash at ***************** *********** at 1:30pm. Three employees scrubbed my front windshield hitting the windshield over and over with scrubbing brushes. I heard loud noises on my windshield. When I came out of the car wash I immediately noticed a huge crack on my windshield. I filed a claim with the location. They took pictures and looked at the cameras. They could not see the crack on my windshield before entering the car wash. They told me most likely corporate would not cover my windshield as they quote dont do that. Since their employees or their machine is the proximate cause of my windshield damage they need to replace my windshield and cover the cost of replacement.
