My husband had his vehicle dropped at this location at the end of March, but the shop did not take a look at it until 4/1/25. On 4/4/25, we received a call that repairs had been made, and we needed to pay to pick up the car. Without knowing my husband had never approved the repairs/cost, I paid the bill ($2,753.50). We never received an estimate, we never approved the repairs, they were done completely without approval. They replaced the battery and did an oil change, which we would not have even approved as we can get them done for free/cheap elsewhere. I learned from my husband on 4/12 that he had never received an estimate, so I called today, 4/15 to speak with the shop and they proceeded to be incredibly rude and called my husband a liar. He checked his emails (spam included), his texts, everywhere, and he never even received said estimate. We just dont want this to happen to anyone else, and would like at least a refund for the cost of the battery ($350) and the oil change ($120), but the business was adamant that my husband is a liar, and did not even offer to email this supposed signed estimate. I have emailed asking for this document but have not yet heard back from them. Attached photo is of receipt, that was all we were ever given.

I am rejecting this response because:

Madness Motorworks has not helped with anything and is instead trying to blame me for all problems.

I want to make clear that my major complaint is they refuse to communicate or check on their work, after another mechanic has claimed it may not have been done correctly. Another reputable shop in the area, European Motorwerks, told me there are noises that shouldn't be coming from the timing chain area of the engine where they know Madness Motorworks has done work. I was told by the owners of European Motorwerks that there should be some guarantee/warrantee stating that work at Madness Motorworks should be completed correctly the first time and I should go back to have the engine checked. This leads to where I am now, with a car I am told I probably can't safely drive and waiting on Madness to look at the car.

While I do admit I could have been timelier, auto repair is a small part of my busy life and is often not my top priority timewise. Regarding the tires, because I took some time to notice the damage (even through the car wasn't being used) they are acting under the premise that I am lying about it to try and get something from them, an act I have no record of performing. I know the tire damage wasn't caused by me, but have since stepped back in fighting over it, as it is hard to completely prove especially when there was some time before it was noticed/reported (and after significant hassle, found out the damage is mostly cosmetic). Without better evidence it is just our words to go on. That is why I take photos before and after any auto work now for reference. And as an average person, I cannot tell what car sounds belong and what means problems, hence why I was only able to know of the potential timing chain problems after visiting another auto shop recently.

While my claim is that their work "might" be faulty because another shop heard a noise, the other shop is well informed on what has happened (they were the first to give me a quote on original repairs) and should be able to recognize what's going on. To fully inspect requires multiple hours of labor at which I was given a ~$400 quote. That is why I was recommended to return to where the original work was done. Again, all I am asking for is to have my car in working order with the work I have already paid for to be properly completed, and I am being told it probably hasn't happened.

Additionally, while I have no idea why things went wrong, I do recall ****** being out of town during my repair and passing the work to other employees. He has said many times that he trusts them not to lie to him about mistakes, but something could have easily been missed and I wish for the work to be verified as knowledgeable third parties are giving doubt.

    Sincerely,

    ***********************************

area of the timing belt the shouldn't be there, and told me to go back to Madness Motorworks to have them check over their work as it should be under warranty still. Madness Motorworks has completely avoided me since, not responding to any calls or emails, and I believe blocking my phone number as I couldn't get the calls to go through until I tried with another. I just want my car is working order in regards to the timing chain, and just to have another shop did in deep enough to try and find the problem is going to cost $400 in labor, so I would really prefer that Madness Motorworks fix their work rather than going to a new shop again.

This customer is providing fraudulent and inaccurate statements regarding his experience with us. First off we did not damage his wheels as he states in the photos provided.  We have no curbs in our parking lot for this to even occur accidentally.  We even reviewed all of our security camera footage and found no instance out of the ordinary to suggest the damage happened at our location. He also reported this to us 14 days after picking up his car!   Plenty of time for him to do the damage himself and claim it was us.  We have insurance that would pay for accidental damage if something truly happened at our location so covering this damage would be no problem if we were the cause of said damage.   The customer has also written us bad reviews on our ****** business page.  We have responded in a similar way as above to that negative review. Now over 6 months later he's claiming some of the work we preformed "might" be faulty because some other shop heard a noise. We reserved the right to refuse service to anyone and there was no stated warranty expressed or implied for his service.   The position this customer has put themselves in makes us unable to service his vehicle any further for fear that the customer will again claim further damage or make some other false claim.  If the BBB needs more information please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
