    I hired Pearl Catering to cater our wedding on October 10th, 2022. Upon the process of hiring them, we were clear that there was to be NO cross-contamination of shellfish and oranges, and that we would be choosing food from their menu that would not need to be changed in order to follow this. My husband has severe anaphylaxis allergies to both, and the last thing we wanted to do was make an order complicated just to avoid an ingredient. We ordered crabcakes, upon the full assurance that the catering kitchen does not even purchase shellfish so no cross-contamination would even occur. There was also a note put on our contract to be safe. Unfortunately, that did not happen, and the food we received at our wedding caused an anaphylaxis response, almost needing to stop the wedding and find an ER. (Luckily, my husband and his friends are nurses so they were able to fix it). He had hives completely down his chest, a red face, itchy throat, delirium, and almost passed out before we realized it was an allergic reaction and medicated him as such. We contacted Pearl catering on 10/11 (the day after our wedding), to address this and share concerns about how almost all of our menu was not delivered as ordered. No response. Emails, phone calls, and more attempts to contact later, the head of sales calls us on 11/23 informing us they are investigating and having a company-wide meeting on 11/30, but may not be able to give a full response until the next year. She also didn't know that our representative was completely ignoring our calls (she told us that it was sent directly to her and didn't realize she was the first person to reach out). We called both her personal number and the main line again on 1/12 with no response once again.
