The ***** Brothers came out during escrow for a house we were buying in May of 2022 and gave us estimates on fixing aspects of the fireplace. After we purchased the home we hired the ***** Brothers on October 25th 2022 to rebuild the firebox in our downstairs fireplace. I have the email estimate from them, what it would cover, and a receipt from the $500 deposit we put down for them to start the work. They came on two occasions in November, the 4th (after canceling on us twice) and the 22nd (after not showing up for a previous booked time slot for the 5th and then not responding to 3 contact attempts between the 11th and 18th). After they came on November 22nd we never heard from them again and they left the job unfinished with materials behind. I texted them (which is normally how they would actually get back to me) 2 times after this on 12/7/2022 and 12/12/2022, called them at least 3 times leaving voicemails asking when they would be back to finish the work, emailed them on their website asking the same thing, and my husband called once as well, they never attempted to reply. Today I tried to call them again and their phone line was disconnected. Since the new year, I have contacted 2 other chimney companies to get estimates on someone to finish the work they started, but both companies said the work the Flues Brothers did was too poor and they would have to demo the work and start over and their estimates were $650-$850 more than what our estimate was originally from the ***** Brothers...and we are out the $500 I already paid to have their bad work done. After seeing that their phone was disconnected today I have given up any hope they will come back to finish, so I hired one of the other companies and they are coming tomorrow, but we would really like a refund so we can use that money to pay this other company and am also filing this to warn others not to hire them (if they someone find a way to try to contact them).Initial Complaint

Made an appt with the Flues **** to come to my home on 10/24 @ 10a and perform a chimney sweep plus install a chimney cap. Was quoted $299 for the sweep + $279 for the cap, installation included, along w/an est if add'tnl repairs were needed. The day of the appt *******/*** finally arrive closer to noon. With no forewarning about being late. ******* is a salesman & really good selling his services. He told me my chimney needed extensive repairs on the inside, & it would cost close to $3K to get it all fixed. Told him it was outside my budget, but I would take his consideration. He really wanted me to take him on his offer & even offered a payment plan. Again, I advised this was just not the time. ******* said he would proceed w/the cleaning & install the cap even though it really didn't fit. Right at the beginning of the job, they got an emergency call that a co-worker had stopped breathing & they had to rush home. They left their tools, which was fine & took off. Later that evening *** returned to the house, around 6pm to finish. ******* said he was willing to patch up the inside of the chimney for an add'tl $120. I told ******* to send me his Venmo information as I had to leave for work. Per his tech Boe, he was going to finish that night, no problem. To make things easier, I paid $700 before i left for work. I get a text from *** saying he was missing tools & would finish the next day btwn 9a/9:30a. This was the last time I saw either of them. The cap was never installed/the chimney wasn't fixed. Called the office later that week & no callback. Textd *******/***, *** replied saying they had a crazy week, but they hadnt forgotten about me. ******* textd on 10/28, apologizing for the delay, but that he would come by that day or 10/29. Nothing. I have been really patient, but after reading other reviews they're not coming back. Especially since I already paid. Flues **** have no business integrity & will scam you. On 4/11/2022 I hired The Flues Brotherz to replace the brick on the front of my house. I paid 50% down + the cost of the new brick materials (Black Horse Veneer $1,095.12) We signed some documents and we put an Estimated date of April 25th for install. Weather permitting.April 25th - No show. No call back. Weather Delays. We reached out to them. At some point we got in touch w/ them and rescheduled.May 25/26th - They did the brick wall demo. (They were late because the truck battery got stolen.) The demo was good. Then, Radio silence from Flues Brothers. No call back. At some point we rescheduled.June 15/16 - They scheduled to install brick - no show. No call back. At some point that day or the next we got in touch and they said they were waiting/ were going to pick up our materials and the delay was because of that.June 19th/20th - They scheduled to install brick - No show. No call back. June 21st - We reached out to them. They finally answered and said they were coming. (revealed that they didnt call back because the truck and all the tools were stolen.) said they would call us back with an update.June 22nd - no call back. we called /texted. Finally got a text message reply near the end of the day. "July 11th for install."July 11th - No show. No call back. Called at 11am - they said they were not at their desk, needed to call me back in 20 minutes. They never called back. July 12th - I call them. They answered. They said they would refund our materials cost - they apologized and said they couldnt do the work and were going to refund is. They said they would call us back by the end of the week with the appropriate refund amount. No call back. July 20th - I called them, they answered. They said they would put the $1095.12 in the mail by first of the month.It's been almost a month since then They have disappeared. They won't answer the phone and have not provided a refund. Please forgive me that this matter has come this far. It was never my intention to make you feel like you were taken advantage of its true that we have had some unfortunate things happen within my company that has ultimately stalled the start dates and or canceled projects entirely. The customers projects that have been canceled will be getting a refund for any repairs or work that we have not done. Refunds are made in order of when the deposit was received. We are however experiencing a delay due to a former employee going rogue. I can't go into anymore detail due to an active investigation. Please understand that I am working extra hard to make sure all customers are dealt with as fast as I can. I understand that you have waited a long time and I'm sorry. I'm asking for a little more time and patience and I promise you will get your refund. Please allow me 30 days from today and you will receive your refund.

Follow up to - Complaint ID: ******** Date Filed: 8/15/2022 The business stated they would provide a refund by September 17th, 2022 The deadline has come and gone and youve still not provided a refund. You have failed to fulfill the contract you signed, and youve failed to provide the refund you said you would provide. I must say, Im frustrated that we are still working through this. We paid you in April and its almost October. *** had to spend more time and money on this project as a result to find new masonry contractors to fix this situation. Time and money that I dont really have to spare. I need this refund to pay for a new masonry company. Please send a refund by October 7th 2022 so we can close this chapter and be done with this. *********************
