I am currently on disability for generalized anxiety disorder and ADHD. Federal and state laws mandate that citizens with a disability be protected from discrimination and are entitled to the same rights and liberties as everyone else--this includes safe and considerate treatment from health care providers who respect their patients and the dictates of their licensure. The staff at Pohala Clinic--specifically, my former primary care doctor ************************************ subjected me to discriminatory treatment, denying me access to prompt and accurate medication refills, making changes to my medications without informing me, and refusing service to me based on issues related to my disability. ADHD people are prone to get emotional when there are surprises, and when she changed my meds without warning I became very upset. I did not say anything offensive to her, instead she humiliated me in front of everyone and refused services even though all of their referred places are booked up. She did not give me a medication bridge, either.
