I was referred to them by several child care industry organizations to obtain a startup loan for an in home child care. The loan requested was $15000, being ********** and a minority who is underrepresented I fit their criteria. ********** providers are needed in the community as I stated I focus on ********** families. I also am involved in committees in **************** as a Board Member. I listed credible references of supporters who are nonprofits. They denied my loan request 1) Stating I didn't fit the underwriters criteria. I asked them to elaborate 2) Business plan is inadequate, lack of industry knowledge. I asked to explain how my business plan was inadequate and that their reason for denial did not reflect my character, as I have a background in child care with employment, a degree in Child and Family Studies and completed Oregon's required training as a Family Childcare Provider. I also provided my EIN, and Oregon Business Registry info. 3) MESO's response: The business plan was actually fine. You are just very early on in the development process; We dont usually provide loans to startups who havent started marketing or developing a client list. In addition, with start-**** we look for direct experience operating that type business (i.e having worked in a childcare business previously.Start up businesses are very risky and we do lend to start **** however are selective in the projects we can fund and these are some things we are looking for.I explained that their changing of denial reasons was unprofessional, that I provided the required documents with explanation of what was needed to fit the criteria. I also provided the list of families who had been waiting for me to operate. That my vehicle, and equipment would cover the collateral, that I had an *** account and additional income that would go towards loan payment monthly. 4) MESO response: "we will be providing you with no further clarification on our credit criteria for start *****

**** did review a business loan application from Ms. ************* We provided prompt feed back to her, that unfortunately we would be unable to proceed with her request.   We provided reasons for this, and attempted to elaborate so Ms. ****** could address these issues as well as provided referrals to organizations that might be able to assist her further.  It appears that Ms. ****** does not agree with our decision.  We regret not being able to assist her further and we hope she is able to find another organization that can meet her needs.
