    Business Response

    Date: 11/10/2022

On or about September 19th 2022 a ************* was brought in with sever engine noise and vehicle owner stating he had overfilled the system with oil. Vehicle owner was advised to take his vehicle to a mechanic immediately. Vehicle owner requested that we drain out the excess oil in the system which we did out of customer service. Vehicle left with oil filled to correct capacity and oil drain plug secured.  On September 27th 2022 we sent a tech out to investigate a claim that a **** ************* experienced oil loss and motor failure. Upon arrival our tech  tried to reach the owner of the vehicle multiple times to involve him in the investigation with no answer. At that time our tech checked under the vehicle to verify the owners claim that the oil drain plug was left loose and the oil had drained out. Upon investigation our tech found oil pan to be completely broken with large pieces missing. Our tech also found the oil drain plug still in place and tight in what was left of the oil pan. This information was relayed to the owner of the vehicle who claimed we had looked at the wrong car. On October 3rd 2022 we received a complaint from the owner of the ************* stating we had investigated the wrong car and did so intentionally to cover up the issue with his vehicle. At that point another representative of our company, the regional manger of the area, scheduled a time with the owner of the vehicle to re-investigate the vehicle to corroborate his claims of looking at the wrong car and lose drain plug. The regional manager met with the owner and with him investigated the vehicle to find the exact same conditions as the previous investigation. Oil pan completely broken with pieces missing, oil drain plug still in place and tight. Oil dipstick could no longer be seated in tube due to internals of motor breaking apart and falling into oil pan, resulting in the broken pan and pieces missing. It was our conclusion after the investigation that the motor had failed due to pre-existing conditions and not due to oil lose through drain plug as vehicle owner had claimed.
