I booked this company, Moving fellows/Portland student movers, to help me move from a 1 bedroom apartment into a 2 bedroom within the same apartment community. I was initially quoted a move time of two hours at $145 an hour. I personally moved my entire kitchen and other items that I could carry myself (so there were no boxes). The items I had for the company to move were furniture and a few misc items I didnt have time to do by myself. It was a standard amount of furniture you would expect for a 1 bedroom (bed, bed frame, dresser, 2 night stands, couch, coffee table, kitchen table, bar stools, a patio couch/chair/table). This company was slow and inefficient, took 5hrs to move my stuff with many breaks, and are trying to charge me $860. Not only were these movers very tired, but they also took many breaks and told me it wouldn't be factored into the time that I would pay, but they lied and are trying to charge me 5.8 hrs. I do also feel like I was taken advantage of because Im a single female and they saw I had nice things so they took as much time as they wanted to get more money since it was an hourly service. They also charged me an additional $38 for an appointment booking and broke my tv stand. I have sent Moving fellows multiple emails and called multiple times and I can not get ahold of anyone else besides the front desk receptionist, Lace. I left voicemails for the billing department and have received no response. I hoped a manager would call me back regarding this incident but no such luck. The response I get from Lace, is that there is no one else in the office besides her, that they are going through a lot of changes right now and are short staffed so thats why my claim is taking a long time. Only contact I have had was on offer for $40 for the tv stand, with a contract that says I legally can't complain to BBB, yelp etc and there with be no further contact regarding the incident. Its now been almost a month since this incident happened.Initial Complaint

I made an appointment for Moving Fellows to move my stuff for 9/15/23. The timeframe was ****pm. Booked for a two hour move estimate $390. A couple of days later it was rescheduled by the company for 4-6. They showed up at 7:30pm. Loaded in one hour. Took them 40 minutes to get to new place. (NE Portland to *********) no traffic at 830 pm. Took me only 20 minutes. They finished and left at 10:30pm. They were unprofessional and had to have smoke breaks in a non smoking community. I was charge $710 - for 3.7 hours. I tipped $20 each. I would like to be charged for only the original amount agreed upon for two hours and the inconvenience of moving so late at night.Initial Complaint

This happened on 9/13/23. They were hired to move us into a less than 700sq ft 1 bed apartment. We were quoted $664 to then be quoted $763 and finally to have them try to take $366.70 out of the account without giving an invoice or heads up which is against their own contract. They were rather rude to me (a disabled individual/at risk adult on SSI/SSDI/Medicare/Medicaid) while having been extremely nice to my partner to turn around and snicker and be rude/ignore/refuse to speak or listen to me. They convinced my partner to sign onto a contract for a third person which was supposed to be a discount, faster, and cheaper without my permission which is a problem since they are not a legal card signer for me. The moving team then slowed down even further. I never even saw the third guy at the new location. They have not done anything but try to pressure me into paying more. They have not reached out to me since I filed a claim with them. I have read many comments and testimonies about how they have done this to vulnerable people already which they had hid deep in their reviews. They did not give me an order receipt or number. I do have a claim number ( ******** ). They threw our items around the apartment and left it in a way that I could not access basic items or even be able to get the couch back together. They left our front door open and trash in the apartment. They repeatedly told they didn't know where items were and told me they were probably buried under other items which were needed to put the bed together or use the kitchen. They broke a few items as well. They may seem like small items but as a disabled individual it all very important to me to live. I need help finalizing the payments and what they need to review so that I can manage my disabilities again and move on to better things. This absurd final charge is keeping me from being able to live a proper life or buy things to support me as I was not prepared for a $1000+ charge after the factInitial Complaint

On February 24, 2023, Moving Fellows quoted me ******* for my move between my old and new home two and a half hours away. After the move, May 6, 2023, I received my bill and was charged *******. Unless they sent two trucks instead of one, there is no acceptable explanation for this much of a price increase. If Moving Fellows knew beforehand that the original quote wasn't going to be accurate, this is clearly a case of Bait and Switch. Attached are photos of the original quote and the final bill.Moving Fellows needs to honor their original quote. Unless they do, this company is fraudulently quoting prices they have no intention of honoring.Initial Complaint

See requested information below. Images attached.- Description of the furniture that was damaged or lost: white tv stand with two hinged doors that shut and hold via magnet - Description of the specific damage that occurred to each item: the right cabinet door hinge broke through the body of the tv stand and fell off. It cannot be repaired. Additionally, the top of the tv stand is now loose (it lifts off), and the top is damaged and scratched.- Detailed explanation of how the item was damaged or lost: according to the mover, when they loaded it onto the dolly, the door opened and they kept going and eventually it fell out and damaged the tv stand. As for the scratches, these occurred because the mover loaded the top against the dolly instead of the back.- Date/time the damaged or lost item was first discovered: 5/17/2022 approx 4:30pm - Provide the fair market value of each item that was damaged or lost: $209.00 - Explanation whether any attempt was made to repair the damaged item: I attempted to wipe the scratches from the top in hopes that it was dirt, but it did not come off. As for the door, there is no way to repair this. The business replied 3 weeks after I filed a complaint and offered me $18. I immediately replied and refused. They never replied. I followed up again and when they didnt reply, I disputed it with my credit card company. Eventually they replied to my credit card company and not to me. Originally I only asked for a partial refund in the amount of my furniture item. At this time, I demand a full refund. The companies damage claim notes contain full lies - I never told them that the piece was damaged. There was nothing wrong with the hinge. If it had been broken, i would have disposed of it. I told them that I didnt need to wrap my television. They never asked if I needed to wrap other furniture. They told me to check the no box and said I didnt have anything that needed to be wrapped.Initial Complaint

On November 16, 2018, I used Moving Fellows for an apartment moving job. The movers showed up hours late in a moving truck smaller than the one I paid for, they were extremely unprofessional, making personal phone calls on the job and damaging much of our furniture. Furthermore, after paying via a credit card, it turned out one of their (ex) employees had some of my personal items at his home that they left in the truck. I contacted this company repeatedly and it finally took a dispute on my credit card to receive communication from Moving Fellows. 4 months after our move, I finally received my remaining belongings. Since I finally got a response from the company, I also sent them photos of the damages to my furniture and asked for a credit to which they said they would give me a negligible $52.50 which does not compensate for anything. They claimed my credit card dispute was illegal to which I replied with all information for my claims and asked them to send an updated invoice reflecting a credit/solution. The owner (***********************) never replied. Earlier this year, the company tried to fraudulently charge my credit card an amount that was different than the original amount. This was out of the blue, and given that they never sent an invoice after the original event, was not one that I authorized. After researching this company, I learned that it is typical for them to fraudulently charge credit cards (they have two separate Yelp pages; of which one shows much evidence of this occurring to others). I talked to my bank and we blocked Moving Fellows and they never replied to the dispute.Alas, on Friday, July 29, 2022, almost 4 years later, I was served a small claims suit alleging that they have sent letters and made phone calls. This is factually inaccurate as I have never heard from this company after they stopped communicating with me. I never received an updated invoice.Moving Fellows is now suing me for more money than the original amount ever was.
