I dropped off our 5th wheel trailer with Curtis Trailers on November 23rd, 2024 for some warranty repairs that were approved by the manufacturer, ***********. We are full-time **ers. The goal was to get the repairs fixed over 5 weeks while we traveled to visit family for the holidays. My original contact with ******* ********* at Curtis was via email on September 8th, 2024 which was 2 1/2 months prior to our drop off date. This was our last opportunity to get the warranty issues fixed since our warranty expired in June 2024 although Alliance extended it to cover the repairs that remained. I prepared multiple documents with details of what needed to be fixed and confirmed that Curtis would be able to complete them prior to us picking up the 5th wheel at the end of December. Upon dropping off the *** we explained our struggles with other ** dealers not being able to fix or not even addressing the issues that still existed to the day we dropped off the *** ******* guaranteed that they would be able to complete everything. I tried a few times to check in with her regarding the ongoing issues and she either did not respond or only responded to some of the issues which started to make me nervous. After our flight back west we went to pick up the ** and unfortunately, many of the issues were not addressed or were addressed incorrectly. This was on top of charging us for items, mostly labor, that we did not approve. After discussing what was not done, ******* admitted that she dropped the ball and that they had issues with employees and that she was out for a week herself. Not once did the contact us to let us know they were having problems or understood what needed to be fixed. She waived a lot of the charges but promised to take care of the remaining issues, including giving us a biz card of a local repair guy that would come out to fix the issues. Now she is going back on her word and demanding that we need to come back to the dealer which is not an option. Help.

Purchased a trailer in March of 2024. Was told this trailer would be good for the purpose of dry camping and was told after the sale when we had issues with the battery that this unit was best used when connected to power at all times. Such a scam by sales! Will never use them again. New upgraded batteries would be helpful but they refuse to provide without purchase.

      Dear BBB,

The customers name and phone does not pull up in our system. Was this trailer purchased under a different name? If so, please provide owner information or the Vin# of the trailer in order for us to address the complaint.

      Thank you,

My husband and I purchased a travel trailer from Curtis Trailer in ************ in October 2022. Since the time of purchase we have had multiple repairs, including a window leak, a faulty stereo, a leak in the bathroom, a recalled window. We also have other repairs that need to be done, and were requested in September 2023 (before our one year warranty expired) and include replacing a bathroom vent screen, replacing the **** cable for the tv/dvd system, electrical - outside lights (marker, brake, etc.) do not work consistently and we have had mobile repair come out twice in order to be able to get home from a remote location. Additionally, delamination was found when the front window was replaced. All repairs were approved in early Oct. 2023. Since that time we have waited for the dealership to schedule repairs and now the manufacturer is debating previously approved repairs. After several attempts to speak with someone from dealership, no one has ever called me back and has only replied to me via email as one party on an email to the manufacturer. We still need repairs and no one is making an effort to resolve the issues listed.

      Dear BBB,

We completely understand the customers frustration. This is still work in process, but below is a summary as to where we are at...

The vehicle was dropped off with ** on 10/30/23 for an appointment on 10/31/23. Several of the issues had been documented with ***** on 10/5/23 but were not approved yet as they had not been diagnosed (they ended up denying items later and only got approval once we brought it to *************'s attention that the issues had been noted with them by the customer).

We found the delamination issue during the window replacement under the *** on 11/1/23. We initially sent a request to ***** for the unit to go to the factory due to the delamination, that email was sent on 11/3/23.There was then quite a bit of back and forth in which we had to point out to the factory twice that there is visible luan separation at the opening of the front window. Between ******************************* and *************************, we kept getting different directions and decisions. **** then decided that it was best for he and ******************* to communicate and leave the rest of us out of the conversation.

On 11/16/23 we received an email from ************************* at *****, and then also one from ***** stating that they will authorize the front cap replacement and that the customer wanted to have the work done at the west lot.***** had advised her that she would need to reach out to the west lot for scheduling and I advised her that they could access my RO for the full list. I then heard from ***************************** (Service Writer at our Aloha location) on 11/28/23 requesting information as ***** had reached out to him for scheduling.

I was cc'ed on an email on 12/12/23 between ***** and **** stating that a claim was submitted outside of the email string which was denied. ***** was asked to resubmit it. ***** was cc'ed as well and conveyed her dissatisfaction.

This week has been a challenge getting KZ's direction because of the Holiday week.

      Sincerely.

      *****************************

I paid ****** dollars cash for a 2021 Keystone Alpine model 3700FL. I was assured that this unit was in great working order. I puchased every extended warranty offered. I live 160 miles from dealership. Since purchasing I have had many horrid experiences with this unit. First Hot water did not work, I went 1 month without hot water. I finally found someone 3hrs away he worked on it and the module still doesn' twork. Had to pay out of pocket as they don't do warranty work he was the only one to return a call. I cannot turn it up as control panel does not work..I had to do this because no one around me would do it. Next now my AC units dont work they blow only warm air. Its cooler outside in the 90 + degee weather than inside then this thing and this morning while cleaning my bathroom I found a crack in my main porcelain toilet and my screendoor is coming apart. The screen has come out if door and has been this way since it was delivered. I've left messages and have yet to get any response. This unit was majorly misrepresented. I puchsed all warranties offered an have yet to get any help from this company as they say I live too far away but the hot water repairman I has paid ****** out of pocket he traveled 3hrs to come and try to fix it as he doesn't do warranty work but was all I could find and the only one to return a call I would like Curtis Trailers to send someone here to fix all of this.I will NEVER recommend them to anybody. I shouldn't have to pay any more out of pocket money which I was told I would have to pay some because the warranty things I purchased did not cover complete work or parts needed.I'm one very possed off customer. Thank you, *********************************

      Dear BBB,

We are currently in the process assisting this customer. This process has been challenging due to her remote location 2 1/2 hours away from our business and she doesn't have the means to bring her trailer to us. Therefore, we are working with an outside mobile rv technician to perform the repairs.

      Sincerely,

we had purchased the 330SL SUNSET. Well we found out the reason those people returned the trailer, found so many things that are either broken, not built right, damaged, you name it. 1. Behind the bed we found that it has black mold from water leaking inside.2. The strips on the wall by the entry, and behind the recliners, and next to the recliner are not put together correctly. 3. The Fireplace remote control not working anymore, not sure why.4. The front Door opens on its own, it doesnt close all the way unless we lock it, so it pops open. 5. Over shot nails everywhere. 6. Dents and on the Refrigerator door on side that opens. 7. Underneath the mat where the dining table and recliners are its all wet, there is a lot of water coming inside. Now we know why those people return this trailer. So we are either going to have take it to Curtis Trailers to have these issues fixed or returning it for money back. He never mention any of these problems to us. He never showed us any of these issues. I emailed the agent who sold us the Travel Trailer and he has not replied at all. I sent several messages. No reply I purchased my trailer from ********* Curtis trailers. Its a Sunset 330SL that another Customer had returned, now we know why they returned it.

We did not respond to this complaint because the customer requested no contact. We also would like to clarify that we purchased the trailer from the original owner because the spouse passed away.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 02/10/2023

When we purchased the trailer they told us the customer brought the trailer back but they didnt know why so Curtis Trailers are lying. They dont want to deal with it, because they know they sold us a piece of damaged c*** The trims are popped out where you can see the insulation, the wood that holds the mattress has black and white mold its so bad it will need to be replaced. The trim behind the recliners is also popped out and you can see the outside.  Trailer are supposed to come with bedspread package, ours did not it was a bare mattress. There are over shot nails everywhere. The floor on the main slider gets so wet we have to turn on the portable heater to try and dry it, but even that doesnt work, were afraid the floor on main slider could potentially collapse. Because it gets completely soaked. Here are pictures so you can see these issues. If nothing gets resolved, we will have to take legs action against Curtis Trailers for refusing to do anything about it.

We purchased a 2022 Keystone Cougar 5th wheel trailer to live in on 10-13-2021 and the trailer was delivered in December of 2021. We were told this was an all season trailer that would be suitable to live in even in the harshest of weather. We purchased it for $ ********* in addition to the long term warrantee to secure a mobile mechanic in the event of needed repairs. We do not have the means to pull this trailer which was communicated to Curtis Trailers hence the delivery of the trailer to our property. Since the week of delivery this trailer has had mechanical and electrical issues. We have called Curtis Trailers over 10 times in attempt to resolve these issues with no response. We have spoken to the manager *********************** who requested an emailed list of the issues. We sent that email 2 weeks ago and still have not received any correspondence from the company. The list of problems this trailer has might fall under the Lemon Law as it is not fit to stay in. The refrigerator will not hold temp. As a result we have thrown away over $400 worth of food that perished. There are also ants in the fridge. In the fridge! Our hvac system will not hold temp resulting in freezing temperatures during cold months. When the heat does blow it blows under the flooring causing the flooring to rise. The computer system has not worked since the first day. It controls everything. It shows all tanks are full. We have reset the system several times with no luck. The auto leveling system also does not work. In addition to the mechanical and computer issues the structure is also falling apart. There are several screws that are not holding the bed, windows, drawers and cabinets resulting in wood and trim falling off. The entire floor makes noise and dips. The tip out make the loudest noises when we move. The fireplace makes loud noises when on which is our only reliable source of heat. All the sinks leak causing water damage. The chairs do not recline and the drawers do not close.

      Business Response

      Dear BBB,

Thank you for forwarding the complaint. To the point, RV's are man-made so they're not perfect and things can go wrong. When they do its frustrating, especially when the consumer chooses to live in them. When consumers reside in a trailer and when its in need of repairs there are only three options.

Option1 (The best option)- **************** with the dealer and have the repairs done at the dealers facility. Yes, it will be inconvenient for the customer who may have to make temporary accommodations while its being repaired. However, the dealer is able to make the repairs in a indoor environment which makes it easier for the technician and it allows sealants to dry if applicable.

Option2- **************** Due to labor shortages, Curtis Trailers currently does not offer this service. However, there are other providers but its subject to their schedule and limitations. Some repairs, simply cannot be done in the field.

Option 3 - Due it yourself

The customer purchased the trailer in December 2021, but up until 2-3 weeks ago this was the first time management became aware of their issues. To help resolve the issue, Curtis Trailers will offer a complimentary pick up, so we can ***************** back to our facility. We will diagnose and repair what we can at that time. However, in the event parts are needed we will return the trailer for them to use while we wait on parts and repeat this service again if necessary. Please note, if any of the items are a result from lack of maintenance they will not be covered under warranty and the cost to repair will be the responsibility on the consumer.

We believe this is an amicable offer and as good gesture we will offer $500 towards expenses during the repair process. If agreed, we will reach out to the customer to coordinate this ASAP.

      Respectively,

      Dear BBB,

The response from Mr. ***** ******************* is not amicable.Theyre making no effort to have the repairs done to the trailer as responsible owners and as outlined in their owners manual. Wanting a full refund after almost a year of usage, wear, and tear, and from our perspective lack of maintenance is absurd. In addition, its been noted prior to the sale that theyre in need of the trailer while they build their cabin.  Therefore, our conclusion is the trailer served its purpose and they no longer need the trailer.

We do believe there are issues with the trailer in need of repair, but because of their actions, we feel its in our best interest to withdraw our previous offer and sever ties with this customer.  We have advised our attorney of this potential fraudulent attempt in the event it goes down the legal road.

We consider this BBB Complaint closed and no further action will be taken on our end unless necessary.

      Respectively,

      Curtis Trailers
