**** offers annual player card registrations, however they set the cards to expire on a persons birthday. In my particular case, Im being charged for a year, but only provided 6 months. They should prorate the amount if not providing a full year.

    Business Response

    Date: 12/20/2024

We acknowledge your complaint regarding the expiration of your OASA player card and appreciate the opportunity to clarify our policies directly.

The term 'annual' refers to the card expiring once per year, specifically in the birth month of the cardholder. This policy does not guarantee that the card will expire 12 months from the issue date. Instead, all cards renew in the same month each year for simplicity and consistency, regardless of when the card was initially issued. While this can result in a first year that is shorter than 12 months, this standard is designed to make the renewal process straightforward and uniform for all cardholders.

The Oregon Adult Soccer Association (OASA) has a board-approved policy where player cards expire on the last day of the players birth month. This policy was established to manage the registration process effectively, preventing administrative overload by distributing renewals throughout the year, rather than concentrating them in peak seasons.

It is important to understand that the term "annual" relates to the frequency of renewal, not to the guarantee of a 12-month validity period from the date of issuance. This approach is consistent with the operational requirements of our nonprofit organization and is designed to facilitate smoother operations and equitable access for all players.

Because US Soccer has not yet implemented its mandatory seasonal year, which will be coming in ********* for ALL players, I may have some latitude in going against our board's policy. Once US Soccer's seasonal year is in place, all players will have the same start and end dates. Many states in the country operate that way now because the state associations run their own seasonal years.  (We don't like them but will have no choice once US Soccer pushes the mandate.)

Please expect an updated card to be mailed to you with a new expiration date extended to the end of December 2025, which will give you a full 12 months. If you do not see it in the mail, please contact us and we'll get another one out right away. We encourage you to renew the card in the month it expires moving forward.

If you would like to discuss this matter further, please feel free to reach out.

    Sincerely,

    **** ********
