We have been customers of Aloha Family Tax and Bookkeeping Services, specifically *******************************, for many years. For the 2022 tax year, we submitted all required documents on March 25, 2023. I received a notice via text message from Aloha Family on April 18 that extensions had been filed and it was a slow year for returns. Our taxes were ready for us to sign on June 3, I reached out to Aloha Family to get information on why we owed $10,244 in Federal taxes because of withholding selections, in the previous tax year we were given advice from Aloha Family specifically to avoid those in the 2023 tax year. I requested an appointment to discuss this, so we knew what to do differently again for ****. I finally received another text message on June 9 stating that there had been some medical complications but our preparer was well enough to finalize the return, but it did not address my specific question to meet. The text message on June 9 was the last time I heard from Aloha Family. I attempted to reach them via text message, email, and through their mobile app. None of my messages were answered. On July 24 I sent another text message saying I had not heard anything and we still at that point had not filed our 2022 taxes. I needed to connect with them to get answers for my situation and to finalize and submit the return. Those messages also were not answered. I finally had to find another person with an entirely different company to file our 2022 return on August 16. They were ready for signature on August 29. We paid the amount we owed and then received a notice that we owed $11,215 in penalties and interest. We paid this amount as well. The amount we owed and the penalties were a massive financial hardship. I see Aloha Family as responsible for the penalties we accrued, we had not yet accrued any interest when I was trying to connect with them initially.
