**** Vicknair of Vicknair Customs LLC had a couple good reviews, but he was inexperienced and made several mistakes building my front porch and back deck. I asked him to replace the front porch and steps using the same footprint as the original, which had 6 steps. First, he built it with 5 steps, which were too high. He then rebuilt it with 7 steps, which were too shallow. Finally, he rebuilt it as I had asked, with 6 steps, which had the appropriate rise and size. The metal handrails that he installed were rattling. He tried caulking the inside, but they still rattle. He also cut the railings the wrong size and instead of cutting a new piece, he filled in the gap with a small piece of metal and excess glue. For the back deck, he did not s**** the metal base at the bottom of the support beams to the concrete base. There is nothing keeping the support beam in place. He installed metal roofing under the deck, but drilled 3x as many holes as were needed, which he had to fill with unnecessary screws to prevent leakage. This is only a temporary fix, as eventually the roofing will leak as the screws are not screwed into anything. He installed the metal roofing upside down, which means excess water is being held against the bottom of the deck, leading to rot. When he applied stain to the wooden portion of the deck rails, the stain was patchy and left drips as well as dripped stain on the metal rods. The cleaner he used to remove the drips removed the finish from the metal rails, leaving them splotchy. He also left several spots unstained. He drilled holes in the wood frame for the metal railings and left them unsanded. He should have sanded and stained the wood before assembling the railings. Overall, his work was unprofessional and sloppy. Lastly, I asked him to add on a few small jobs, which he agreed to and I paid him for. But later my son overheard him complaining to a friend about the extra work and joking that he overcharged me for it.
