    I hired Martin Hopkins to repair my Amana Heat Pump last spring. The Heat Pump was about 18 months old at the time of the repair. The original installer was not available for he was on a job in **********. The ** was not working when I contacted Martin Hopkins. He found the source of the problem, repaired it and replaced the refrigerant that had been lost due to the leak that he had repaired. I had stayed in contact with the original installer because I wanted this issue to be covered by the warranty on my relatively new Heat Pump. After **** (of ******** Quality in ********, ****** - the original installer) returned from **********, we began the process of submitting a warranty claim. This is when I learned that Martin Hopkins had overcharged me on the refrigerant he used to resupply my system. Because he is not an authorized Amana dealer, the warranty will not be honored. However, Martin Hopkins charged me $135 per pound for the refrigerant. The warranty, had it been honored, would have approved the refrigerant at a rate of about $40 per pound. ****, the original installer, agrees that Martin Hopkins grossly overcharged on the refrigerant. I am seeking to recover the overcharged amount. I am seeking to recover at a rate of $90 per pound times the eleven pounds that Martin Hopkins put into my system. That equates to $990. I appreciate any assistance that the BBB can offer!Sincerely,***********************
